| Derby CVS Community Conference |
 |
We will be holding a Community Conference on 13 November, which will also include our AGM.
This is a daytime event, between 10.00 am and 3.00 pm, which we've packed with useful seminars and forums.
We will then conduct the important business of our AGM. We will be in contact soon about nominating someone from your organisation to the CVS Management Board of Trustees. It is vital that as many CVS Members attend as possible. This is a real opportunity to feed back what support you need and how we can support you better.
There will then be a tasty lunch, then the following Forums will start:
- Volunteer Co-ordinators.
- Self Help.
- Health and Social Care.
- Leadership.
- Management.
We are holding the conference at the Riverside Centre in Pride Park and look forward to seeing you there. More information will be sent to you in the next couple of weeks. |

Maternity Leave
In April 2008, the law was amended to allow the same types of claim during Additional Maternity Leave, or AML (weeks 27 to 52), as during Ordinary Maternity Leave (weeks 1 to 26). This applies to women whose expected week of childbirth falls on or after 5 October 2008. The main effects of this will where company cars or mobile phones are provided to a woman who subsequently goes on maternity leave. Contractual annual leave (over and above the statutory minimum) will also be affected. From October it will also need to be paid during AML.
Agency StaffFrom 27 October 2008 agency staff on short term contracts will be entitled to Statutory Sick Pay (SSP). They will be eligible in the same way as other employees, whether they are indirectly or directly employed and regardless of the length of their contract. However, they must still meet all other qualifying criteria for SSP purposes. They must, for example, be an employee for National Insurance purposes in order to qualify and be absent from work for 3 days or more. Further guidance will be produced by the Revenue (HMRC) in early 2009. It is however expected that as many as 63,000 agency workers could benefit from these changes. For any support with this area of employment, please contact Rachel our HR specialist on 01332 227714 or send Rachel an email. |
