Community Champions Awareness
Do you want to help the environment and save money at the same time? Every Action Counts is a new idea that can help voluntary and community groups, clubs and societies to take small steps to make the world a better and more secure place for us and future generations. Small changes can make a big difference and together the members of your group can have a real impact. We are holding an awareness session on Monday 29 September 2008 from 10.00 am to 12.00 pm at Derby CVS, 31 Charnwood Street Derby. For more information, or to book a place, contact Liz Gumbley on 01332 227738 or send an email. |

Revised National Occupational Standards for the Management of Volunteers These standards have been developed for everyone who manages volunteers and were written by a steering group of experts and practitioners led by the UK Workforce Hub and compiled by the Management Standards Consultancy. The process included a three month UK wide consultation period in which individuals were able to contribute their views via an on line consultation or at one of the UK events. Voluntary and community organisations across the UK will be able to make use of the new standards in their recruitment, selection, training and development procedures in order to improve the skills of volunteer managers.

The Philip Lawrence Awards 2008 The Philip Lawrence Awards reward outstanding achievements in good citizenship by young people aged 11 to 20. The national scheme recognises groups that are making a real contribution to their local community and the lives of others; and groups that promote respect and understanding of faiths, culture and communities internationally. The focus is on exemplary activities - examples of young people working together, promoting citizenship and overcoming the difficult situations some young people face. Please note that The Philip Lawrence Awards are an awards scheme, not a grant giving scheme. Nominations are now open for The Philip Lawrence Awards 2008. The closing date for entries is Friday 12th September 2008. Website: http://www.4children.org.uk/pla/ |
