New Guidance on CRB checks
(Source: EMVY Newsletter) The Office of the Third Sector (OTS) has published guidance to help organisations that use volunteers to be clear about when they do and don't need to carry out Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checks on volunteers. The guidance will help cut unnecessary red tape and responds to concerns voiced by the voluntary sector that potential volunteers can be put off if they are asked to undergo a CRB check without good reason. More information can be found: www.cabinetoffice.gov.uk/third_sector/news/news_stories/080604_crb.aspx |

Introducing the v awards
It's important to offer young people the opportunity to reflect on their volunteering activities, to identify the skills they've learned and to focus on the impact that their volunteering has had on themselves and others in the community. The vinvolved team at Derby CVS is currently promoting the vawards to young people, organisations, and those who provide services to young people too. The vawards are available to young people who are registered with a vinvolved team, or who complete their volunteering within a vfunded project. Thank you certificate The thank you certificate can be given to any young person who spends time volunteering within a project v50 award The v50 award can be given to any young volunteer aged 16-25 who has completed 50 hours of volunteering experience within a 12 month period.
What young volunteers think of the awards: "An excellent way of getting recognition for your volunteering is through the vawards" Sofia, 18 "A great way of achieving something and proof that you are self-motivated" Kelly, 19 "The vawards help in giving evidence and recognition of your achievements in helping others in society through volunteering" Sharon, 17 "An exceptional way to help young volunteers demonstrate their skills, abilities and experiences to potential employers" Dan, 21 | |
