ABOUT KEN CHERTOW
Ken and I have a long history, and I long encouraged him to bring the Gold Medal Training Camp to Milwaukee so that kids in our area could benefit. Now it is here and I want you to know some of my experiences with Ken. I watched him when he was a competitor at Penn State and I was coaching at Marquette University. He was relentless on the mat, always pushing his opponents and looking to score. He was not afraid to go for the big move, and he had an endless arsenal of moves to pick from. I first saw him coach at University Nationals/Jr. World Team Trials at Northwestern University. I was working with a Ringer who was trying to make weight, and Ken was on the mat working with an Ohio kid. Ken spent an hour on crackdown finishes and I learned as much as I could from watching without getting in the way of his workout. At the 1993 Freestyle World Championships in Toronto, Canada I spent a significant amount of time picking Ken's brain. I hung out with him and other world class wrestlers and gained even more respect for his approach and dedication to the sport. I have been working at his camps for 7 years now, and always gain knowledge from seeing Ken demonstrate technique as well as the incredible staff he has at every camp. I make sure I work with Ken every year- it makes me a better coach. I learn cutting edge technique from one of the most knowledgeable coaches in the sport. Once again I have the opportunity to work with Ken in Milwaukee. We can
learn from this great coach and system and I want to make sure Ringers wrestlers take advantage of this opportunity. Coach Jim Schmitz

WHY MSOE
| Location- Campus is located in quiet East Town, between the river and the lake, and the dorm is a block from the gym. Facilities- The Kern Center is one of the nation's best facilities for Division III sports. It is 210,000 square feet with a hockey arena, glass atrium weight room, but best of all a dedicated wrestling room for the MSOE team. Camp will be in the basketball arena with wall to wall mats. Staff- Rai Stelter is the MSOE Director of Recreational Services and manages the Kern Center. A longtime wrestling coach, Rai was my Head Assistant Coach at Marquette University until the program was dropped in 2001. Rai will make sure MSOE is ready for us and that everything runs smoothly.
