Community Chest funds summer camp scholarships

Dear Community Chest Friends,

Another summer has gone by all too quickly and fall is in the air.  As always, our Annual Campaign begins in early October with a goal of again raising $650,000 for more than 35 programs and agencies.  Last year's campaign allowed us to help so many and to keep vital services flowing during difficult times.

Not only do our campaign dollars do so much, but our Field of Interest Funds help us achieve great things such as keeping families from being evicted, providing medications and assisting kids in overcoming a bleak summer by helping them to attend camps.

We hope you have received your annual campaign letter by now and are considering making a contribution. (You can donate online today by clicking the green donate button below.)  Please let us know if you would like to get involved with the Community Chest or with one of our terrific agencies.

Sincerely,

Astrid Williams and Stephanie Parish

On June 14th, the Community Chest hosted its annual Celebrate Giving Day at the Concord Town House. Every organization receiving funding was invited to the event to be given their awards for the upcoming year. More than $522,000 was distributed to the agencies.

The day also included the our Annual Meeting and awards were presented to the top five business sponsors: Cambridge Savings Charitable Foundation, Cambridge Trust, Concord Hillside Medical Associates, SolidWorks and Middlesex Bank.

FUNraising Challenge
Challenge 2011 boys

The sun was shining on the first Sunday in June as the 9th annual Community Chest Challenge race took off in perfect formation.  This year we were joined by the Acton Boxborough United Way.

More than $18,000 was collected in support of 38 Community Chest charities, programs and schools that provide critical human services to residents of Concord and Carlisle.

The event was a financial success as well as a community achievement thanks to 150 enthusiastic participants and 30 hardworking volunteers.  Check out the winning scores at the bottom of the page and enjoy many wonderful photos taken by Concord photographer Jim Coutre.
