This service year has only just begun and already we are finding ourselves affected by the many changes the program has undergone. From a slightly increased stipend, to new service sites, to designing our own training programs, these seemingly mild alterations will have a major effect on us as AmeriCorps members and how we do our job.
The most striking difference to the program this year is the reduced number of hours we will spend as a whole team. While new members attend training once a week at R2LP, the 16 returning members will venture off to pursue their own professional interests and goals. Now more than ever, an extra effort is required to keep up to date with what the other members of the team are accomplishing at their sites and in their lives.
To keep this dialogue going, we are launching this e-newsletter, which will be sent -- on a semi-regular basis -- to current and former R2LP AmeriCorps members and to the R2LP staff. To succeed, we need your participation.
Please share any information about events at your site, projects you have been working on, or any other news you think R2LP AmeriCorps members and staff would be interested in hearing. When possible, please submit a photo to go along with this information, taking care that any children in the picture have a signed photo release. You can submit the information to
R2LPstories@gmail.com along with your preferred method of contact in case we have questions about what you have submitted.
Thanks! We hope to hear from you soon. And often.
