R2LP's Pre-kindergarten Classroom has been refunded; applications available now

R2LP has just learned that its Pre-K Classroom on the Liston Campus of CCRI will once again be a participating site in the state's Pre-kindergarten Program. The classroom, which has a five-star rating from BrightStars, will accommodate 18 children who will be chosen by lottery on August 19.

This is an extraordinary opportunity for families with eligible children because there is no cost to them for this high-quality program, which runs six hours a day through the school year.

To be eligible for the R2LP classroom a child must be a resident of Providence and be 4 years old by September 1. Children must attend school Monday through Friday from 8:45 a.m. until 2:45 p.m. from mid-September through mid-June. R2LP can assist parents in finding before- and after-school care at other sites, but parents are responsible for the cost of that care.

This is the third year R2LP has participated in the Rhode Island Department of Education's Pre-kindergarten Project. Other sites participating this year are Beautiful Beginnings and the Highlander Charter School/Mariposa Center in Providence, and the Westbay Children's Center and the Imagine Preschool @CCRI in Warwick. Parents can apply at more than one site but they must be residents of the city where the site is located.

Completed applications for the R2LP Classroom must be sent or delivered to R2LP by August 15. Click here for full information on the process and to download an application. And please share this with anyone you know who might be able to take advantage of this opportunity. All families with eligible children are encouraged to apply.
