R2LP announces job opportunities in its new Early Reading First program

R2LP is looking for experienced early childhood educators to work as "early literacy associates" in its newest Early Reading First (ERF) program. The positions are funded through ERF, but associates will be employed by -- and report to -- the early-care directors at the sites to which they are assigned.

The ERF project provides young children with the early literacy skills they need for a successful transition into kindergarten. The associates will work closely with a team of professionals to implement and support the early literacy and professional development activities provided at the partner sites through ERF.

Qualified candidates for this position should possess a CDA credential or an associate's degree in early childhood education, and must have a minimum of one year of experience in an early childhood program. Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

The deadline for applications is December 9. Please click here for a more detailed job description and contact information.

Getting to know one another

audienceParticipants in R2LP's newest Early Reading First program kicked off the three-year initiative at a festive dinner on November 30. The relaxed event gave administrators, teachers and teaching assistants from the five partner sites a chance to meet one another and members of the R2LP staff. As participants in ERF, these educators will be taking college-level courses in early literacy and working closely with mentors in their classrooms. They will also learn a great deal from each other over the next few years.

The five sites participating in the program are Heritage Park YMCA Early Learning Center and Pawtucket Day Child Development Center in Pawtucket, Progreso Latino and Children's Friend Child erf dinnerCare Program in Central Falls, and Roger Williams Day Care Center in Providence.
