Watch Your Love Grow  Secure Their Financial Future

Invest in Tomorrow's Dreams Today with Tax Time Savings Bonds

When your children or grandchildren grow up, what will they want to be? A scientist, so they can discover new possibilities? An astronaut, so they can travel to distant galaxies? Tax Time Series I Savings Bonds are a safe, easy and trusted way to give your loved ones the future of their dreams, while they are still dreaming.

For as low as $50, Tempe residents now have a simple, secure way to put a little money aside and watch it grow over time. Taxpayers can now use their tax return to order Series I savings for themselves or a loved one and pay for the order with their federal tax refund. Currently earning 3.06%, Series I Bonds earn interest from the first day of their issue month. They may be redeemed at any time after a twelve-month minimum holding period, but if redeemed before they are five years old, holders will forfeit the three most recent months' interest. "We strongly believe that Tax Time Savings Bonds are a very easy way for people to help themselves or their loved ones achieve their dreams," said Kate Hanley, Executive Director of Tempe Community Council.   Because Tax Time, Series I Savings Bonds are accessible, convenient and easily given as gifts, tens of thousands of taxpayers have already found them to be a great way to start saving and building financial security.
Ask your tax advisor to purchase one today, or visit our FREE tax preparation sites available for residents who qualify www.tempe.gov/tcc.

Underage Drinking Reduction Campaign

21 Or Too Young Extended Version
21 Or Too Young Extended Version
The Tempe Coalition, whose purpose is to help youth reach their full potential by reducing underage drinking and drug use, has a city-wide underage drinking reduction campaign, titled 21 or Too Young, The goal of the campaign, which will run through the end of April 2012, is to educate the community about the harmful effects underage drinking has on youth.

The Coalition has developed a pledge for parents, adults and youth to sign saying they will not support, provide for, or participate in the act of underage drinking. In addition, Tempe Coalition has made video public service announcements which will be shown on Tempe 11 and in Tempe Harkins Theatres.  Two billboards in Tempe are currently featuring the 21 or Too Young campaign.

To join the cause and support the reduction of underage drinking in Tempe, go to www.tempecoalition.org to sign the 21 or Too Young pledge. You can also visit Tempe Coalition at Diablo Stadium during a spring training game on Thursday, March 15, to learn more about the campaign and to get a 21 or Too Young wristband.
