Despite downpours, tornado watches and indoor waterfalls, TCC successfully pulled off the celebration of our 2010 Don Carlos Humanitarians of the Year, Catherine May and Dan Abbott.

FREE Financial Education Workshops
 
Tempe's Financial Stability Intitiative (previously known as the Earned Income Tax Credit and Asset Development Initiative (EITC) is please to announce it wil be offering a series of financial literacy classess for residents of all ages.  
The City of Tempe, Tempe Community Council and Arizona Saves are offering three-part workshops that will include sessions on budgeting, taking charge of your credit and home buying. All classes are tailored specifically to each age group and a $50 savings bond is available to EVERY child that completes all three workshops. The first session runs November 9, 16 and 23 from 5:30-7:30pm, in the Escalante Community Center, 2150 E. Orange Street, Tempe. Dinner will be served. Sessions will continue in February and March/April 2011. There are three ways to register!

Ready to Learn  

New opportunities for parents with young children are being offered by Communities In Schools of Tempe and Kyrene thanks to a grant from First Things First. Families with children ages 0-5 can attend early literacy classes at Wood Elementary presented by Ready to Learn on Fridays: November 5th, 12th and 19th from 8:30 - 10:00 am. The acclaimed 6-week series 1,2,3,4 Parents is offered at Wood on Tuesdays beginning November 2 in English and on Mondays in Spanish at Holdeman Elementary. Many other workshops and classes are available, all are free and child care is provided.  Please call Isela Blanc at 480-858-2306 for more information.

Donates $10,554 to vital nonprofits

 

This year we were able to distribute over $10,000 to our local nonprofits from funds raised through the Tempe Community Foundation (TCF).
Thanks to generous supporters like you, we have grown the TCF endowment to nearly $500,000 in just three short years!

TCC Hosts Human Services Day for Tempe Leadership Class XXVI

Tempe's leaders received a hands-on tour of some of TCC's nonprofit partners providing vital services to those most in need. Tempe Community Action Agency, The Centers for HabilitationShared Living, UMOM, Communities in Schools of Tempe & Kyrene and Tempe Salvation Army.
