Angels relies on donations to help abused and neglected babies.
Help a child today.

6 Babies

Since Angels was founded we have rescued 452 babies from abuse and neglect.
Thank you to the families who have changed the lives of 25 babies this year.

We're FULL! Our wonderful homes are full of love and foster babies. Every available Angels family has a baby or toddler in their care, 50 kiddos are getting the love and care they deserve. This is the one limit to our success- we can only place as many children as we have families who can care for them.

Can you open your home?

A letter from the Chair

Stacy Brown, Chair of the Angels Board shares her thoughts about Foster Care Awareness Month.

Hello Angels Friends,

When we think of May, most of us think about honoring our mothers on Mother's Day, but did you know that May is also National Foster Care Awareness Month? This month let's celebrate our moms and foster moms by raising awareness about Angels.

I originally learned about Angels when I inquired about becoming a foster parent, but after learning about the depth of the foster crisis, I decided to take a different path. In hopes that I could impact my community and make a difference for many babies in San Diego I decided to join the Angels Board of Directors. Angels provides such a unique solution and I wanted to be part of it.

I know many of you would like to help more, but don't know how. Here are some ideas that might get you started . . . just remember FOSTER:

  • Financial contributions: Angels is a non-profit  primarily funded by donations. You make a difference.
  • Open your heart and home: Angels seeks to certify more qualified foster parents with the goal that one day no child will ever be turned away.
  • Share the Angels story: Tell everyone you know how we are different- Like us on facebook!
  • Thank foster parents for the gift they give every day: They offer unconditional love and deserve your gratitude in return.
  • Educate yourself about the need: Did you know that the average foster baby will live in 3 foster homes before she turns one?
  • Raise awareness with your family and friends: Wear a lavender ribbon in May and see how many people ask what it represents! Share the urgent need.

You will be amazed by the difference you can make.

Warm Wishes,

Stacy Brown

Chairman of the Board

Ask Dr. Mama

Rachel webDr. Mama is better known as Rachel Zahn, MD, a pediatrician and mom of three grown kids. After three years on the Angels Board she has joined the staff as Assistant Director. For more parenting advice check out her website MamasOnCall.com.

Dear Dr. Mama,

I am so tired of this topic I could SCREAM! The women in my playgroup spend endless hours arguing the virtues of cloth vs. disposable diapers and I need info from an authoritative voice to put an end to it. It seems like the debate is about more than how we deal with pee and poo ... it has taken on a moral tone. PLEASE weigh in and help me end the discussion!

What I need to know is: 1) Are there any health risks/benefits of either option? 2) Is there a definitive environmental advantage of one over the other? I've heard so many conflicting opinions and frankly I'm sick to death of it! Please save me from the torment.

Foster Parent Spotlight - Milo and Karen

karen and milo

We have been on our fostering journey for a year and have fostered six beautiful children. Our latest chapter has been the best ever with twice the magical moments to share.

When we first started it was impossible to know what the experience would be like. Of course we knew we had lots of love to share and wanted to provide a safe place for children, but there was so much more to fostering.

Did you Know?

It's Foster Care Awareness Month! There are an estimated 12 million foster care alumni in the US. This means 1 out of every 25 Americans spent time in the foster care system, so next time you are in a restaurant or at the movies, think about how many lives could have been changed by an Angels family. Wear a lavender ribbon this month and tell everyone you know about the foster care crisis and how Angels is making a difference.
