Hello Angels Friends,

Little Malachi was born to a 15 year old teen mom in foster care. Overwhelmed at the responsibility of raising a child on her own, Malachi was put in foster care - in a home meant to provide him with love, nurture and safety.
Shortly before his second birthday, Malachi died from horrific injuries inflicted on him by a brutal foster mother. Nearly 4 years later we are reminded of little Malachi as his foster mother came to trial and was given a 14 year sentence for killing this innocent child.
We are also reminded of the critical need to carefully screen every foster parent before we ever entrust the life of a child to their care. A deliberate act to injure any child in foster care is unthinkable, horrific and one that can be prevented! We mourn again for Malachi and, at the same time, reaffirm our commitment to the highest standards for foster parent recruitment and training, and give thanks for the loving homes that Angels families provide to every child in their care.

Warmly,

Cathy Richman

Dear Dr. Mama,

My little girl turned 1 a few weeks ago and I'm SO confused! I know it's time to transition from formula to milk, but which kind of milk? My husband is lactose intolerant so we drink mostly soy and rice milk, but is this OK for our little one? I've heard that children under 2 need whole cow's milk to provide needed fat for brain development. True? Please help me sort out fact from fiction when it comes to milk and babes.

Thanks!

Cathy and Rachel made Angels' presence known at the Child Welfare League Conference in our nation's capitol. It was a great opportunity to network with leaders in the field, spread the word about our successful model and learn about cutting-edge research.

Our Toddler Closet is Full! Thank You!

A HUGE thank you to Stone Ranch Elementary School and all our other supporters for their donations of toddler outfits! Our toddler closet is now ready for all our new placements. Many of these pre-schoolers have never had a brand new outfit with matching socks, shoes and all the trimmings but now each child will get a fresh start with a new look. Thank you to everyone who donated. If you are interested in running a drive for Angels please contact Lindsey Hogg at 619-283-8100 ext. 227 or lhogg@angelsfoster.org.
