| Ask Dr. Mama |
Dr. Mama is better known as Rachel Zahn, MD, a pediatrician and local mom of three kids, ages 23, 21, and 16. All three were born during her medical training, earning her the title. After three years on the Angels Board she has joined the Staff as our Assistant Director. Here is the February Dr. Mama question:
Dear Dr. Mama,
My little girl is 5 1/2 months, and she is happily taking formula like a champ. At our last well baby visit the pediatrician said I could start offering solids, and recommended rice cereal as a starting point.
When she didn't seem too interested, a friend of mine told me about "baby led solids", which she described as letting the baby decide which solid foods she'd like to explore, starting with what the grown-ups are eating. No baby food required. I've never heard of this before ... is it safe to try?

| Foster Parent Spotlight - Ed and Diane |
|

A few years ago, we were getting our finger printing done for our sons adoption and saw a sign on a neighboring door for "Angels Foster Family Network." A few months later, we gave them a call in hopes to look into fostering and possibly expanding our family, and from that point on our lives have been greatly changed with such wonderful experiences. We have learned so much through each situation and challenge, and are so thankful for the path we are going down. Click here to read more.

Cal Western School of Law Earned Their Wings!
|
The hardworking students at Cal Western School of Law held an auction to benefit our Angels babies. Among the auction items were dinners prepared by their favorite professors. We are so grateful that this group of peers not only planned the event but dug deep to raise more than we ever imagined.

Did you Know?
|
|
Did you know? A lifetime of healthy relationships begins with the bond between infant and caregiver. Attachment disorder results when this bond is disrupted over and over, or is never allowed to form at all. "If a child is not attached -- does not form a loving bond during the early years -- he does not develop an attachment to the rest of mankind." (Magid & McKelvey).
One famous baby who suffered attachment disruption is Helen Keller. She got help early enough and grew up to be one of greatest humanitarians of all time.

| Thank You Corner |
Angels is very grateful for the donations we receive every month. Without the generosity of our friends we wouldn't be able to save innocent babies in need. We would like to thank our January donors! Click here to see all our generous donors from January! |
