6 Babies

Since Angels was founded in 1999, we have rescued 413 babies from abuse and neglect.

So far this year we have rescued
52 babies.

Hello Angels friends.

At Angels we are fond of saying "be careful what you ask for as you may well get it!"   After adopting Ben, their Angels son, 10 years ago, Angels parents Chris and Jeff expressed a wish to add to their family, and that's when Jonathan was placed with them (Ben's biological brother), and then 4 years later, the boys' little sister came to live with them, followed by their brother less than 2 years later.  You will meet this amazing Angels family at this year's luncheon who have adopted these 4 beautiful children AND who are now fostering their 2 youngest siblings!

The Angels board set a goal of 400 guests at this year's luncheon, and we have now exceeded that goal and can only place more guests on a "wait list".  Be careful what you ask for at Angels  - you may well get it!  I look forward to seeing so many of you on Oct. 20 at our luncheon, a heartwarming event you'll be glad you attended.

Warmest regards,

Cathy Richman

Here is the October Dr. Mama question:

Dear Dr. Mama
,

We have adopted 4 Angel's babies from the same bio mom (!) and are currently fostering 2 more, ages 1 and 2.

The 2-year old is an adorable little guy who came to us at around 18 months with some mild developmental delays, which have improved. Then, this week, we found him in his crib where he had taken off his dirty diaper and was smearing everything in sight with poop! We put him right in the bath and proceeded with the awful clean-up job, but I don't know, should we have reprimanded him? I'm so worried that this has something to do with his rough start in life, and may lead to other problems. None of our other kids have ever done anything like this.

Why is he doing it, and how can we make him stop?

Foster Parent Spotlight- Mark and Misty

Here is an excerpt from a letter from one of our foster parents:
"We know Angels is here to change the life of a child but it has changed ours as well.  My husband, Mark, and I are currently fostering our second child.  Our first was a little boy that came to us when he was five months old.  His birth-mom was young and got caught up with the wrong crowd and drugs were involved.  Our little buddy was in our life for a year and a half and reunified with his birth-mom right before his second birthday. Did you Know?

Over 1,400 children under the age of five are in foster care right here in San Diego County. Each of these young children needs a safe, stable, and loving place to heal. Angels is grateful for our Angels foster homes that are part of the solution. Each day we see little ones placed in our homes heal from their emotional and physical wounds. If you, or someone you know, is interested in fostering a young child please go to our website or contact Annika Winter at 619-283-8100 x 221 to find out about our next Foster Parent Orientation
