6 Babies

Since Angels was founded in 1999, we have rescued 400 babies from abuse and neglect.

So far this year we have rescued
39 babies.

Happy Summer to all our friends and supporters...

We made the placement of two little ones this week; two precious babies from local hospitals who were welcomed into the hearts and arms of two amazing Angels families, marking the placement of Baby No. 399 and 400!

We do the work we do and rescue the babies we rescue because of all the amazing "Angels" who support our program.  An Angel is any baby that touches our lives, Angels come in the form of the families who come forth and provide their loving homes and committed support to each baby placed with them, and Angels are the volunteers and donors who keep our agency financially supported.

This past month we received a $30,000 grant from Price Charities.  We want to thank all members of this foundation for not only this generous grant, but for all the years of support they have provided to Angels since its inception.  Truly many of our 400 babies have found their way to loving and often permanent adoptive homes because of the financial support received from Price Charities.  At Angels we say that "Price Charities has earned their wings!".

We appreciate the love and kindness that seems to bubble up every day at Angels.  While we know our work is never complete and that every day a child is abused or neglected,  with continued support and dedication to children, we will continue to carry on past Baby No. 400, hoping to reach 500 in the very near future.

Warmest regards,

Cathy Richman

Here is the August Dr. Mama question:

Dear Dr. Mama,

Our Angels baby has been with us since he was 7 months old and he's coming up on 21 months now. I'm getting worried because he's still not saying very much. He said Mama and Papa pretty early on (maybe about 10 months) and has some other words. He points at items and makes sounds, but he's not putting words together into phrases or using language to communicate with us.

Our older daughter is 5, and she was practically speaking in full sentences by this point. The pediatrician says each child is different and not to worry, but it's hard because I know he went through a lot as a tiny baby and I fear it may have damaged him. Should I push to have him tested, or just wait it out?

We Need More Loving Families!

In 2010 we have had to turn away over 17 babies this month alone! We are so grateful to the families who were able to bring a baby into their home, but we need more loving families to help the littlest foster children in San Diego County. If you know of a family that would be well suited to join the Angels team, please forward this newsletter to them and encourage them to find out about our program. We have orientation the first Wednesday of each month and a Fall Training class that we are hoping to fill with 15 qualified families.

Adoption Story- The Arners and Aliyah
Aliyah Adoption
Congratulations to the Arner family on the adoption of Aliyah, which was finalized on June 30. We are so happy that Aliyah has found a healthy loving forever home. What an incredible story this family has of healing, love and growth!
We're on the Radio

The people at FM94.9 have put us on the air. There is a 30 minute interview that aired during July on Sunday afternoons and now the audio is available online. You can hear our board member Allison Andrews share about Angels and the Birdies Fore Babies Golf Tournament. This is a great way to find out all about Angels or tell a friend about us!

Birdies Fore Foster Babies

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Angels first annual Birdies Fore Foster Babies Golf Tournament on August 2nd at Morgan Run Golf Course. Everyone who donated, participated in the tournament or pledged in the Birdie Pledge drive helped to make it a great success and a lot of fun for everyone!

Did you Know?

Our Angels babies are are nearly split down the middle into three ethnic groups? In 2009 26% of our babies were African American, 33% were Caucasian and 36% were Hispanic. Only 5% of our babies did not fall into one of those three categories.

Welcome to Shelby Moe

Angels office manager, Paige Moe, gave birth to her own little angel, Shelby Pauline on Tuesday, July 27, at 7 pounds 3 ounces. Our Angels family is growing and we would all like to welcome Miss Shelby Moe into the world!

Heels to Heal

Thumbs Up Baby

Angels is very grateful for the donations we receive every month. Without the generosity of our friends we wouldn't be able to save innocent babies in need. We would like to thank our July donors! Click here to view the names.
