Dear Angels Friend,

As we celebrate February, the month of love, we at Angels have so many stories of love that continue to multiply every day.  We wish all of our Angels families and babies a month of shared love and joy!

Angels has many exciting plans in store for 2010 and we are proud to present our new slate of officers for the Board of directors.I would also like to recognize a true leader, our past board chair, David Hoffman.

David hoffman

David joined the Angels board in May of 2003 and has provided strong leadership as our board chair since July 2005.  While David is now "termed off" the board, we know his strong commitment to Angels and the children we serve is not "termed off"!  We thank all of our board members over the years who have helped to steer our direction and support all our endeavors and we welcome with gratitude our new members and new slate of officers.

Gratefully,

Cathy Richman
Founder/Executive Director

Ask Dr. Mama

Dr. Rachel ZahnDr. Mama is better known as Rachel Zahn, MD, a pediatrician and local mom of three kids, ages 20, 18, and 14. All three were born during her medical training, earning her the title. Rachel is also a very active Angels Board member.

Dr. Mama also has her own website - www.MamasOnCall.com. Check it out!

Please read Dr. Mama's question:

Dear Dr. Mama,

We are fostering an adorable little Angel who's about to turn 10 months old. She came to us when she was just 3 months and has had several episodes of oral thrush since that time. Our pediatrician has always given us nystatin to treat it, but this time it doesn't seem to be working. We're on a refill of the nystatin, but it's going on 2 weeks now. Has she become resistant to it? Is there anything else I can do to get rid of it?

Foster Parent Spotlight - The Barron Family

Dan and KristenKristen and Dan began fostering with Angels in August of 2009. They had tried for years to get pregnant on their own and had a "desire to take the negative aspects of infertility and make it into something productive and positive." After 6 months of fostering they now say... "Voila, it worked." Kristen, after working with foster youth for years, saw the many unfortunate circumstances these kids had to face with a broken system as their way of life. She stated that "it didn't sit well with us to pray for the foster care system to be fixed and not do anything (physically) about it." Read More...
New Officers for Angels Board of Directors

Angels is excited to announce the new Officers for the Board of Directors. There is a very dedicated group of individuals on the Board of Directors that cares deeply about the children that Angels saves. We are lucky to have such wonderful board members supporting Angels Foster Family Network!

Here are the new Officers for the 2010 Board of Directors:

Chair of the Board - Dr. Rachel Zahn (Pediatrician, also known as Dr. Mama)
Vice Chair - Mindy Fletcher (Political Vetran)
Secretary - Leslie Gladstone (past Angels Foster Parent, adoptive parent and lawyer)
Treasurer - Barbara Daitch, CPA

Quote from new Chair, Dr. Rachel Zahn:

"In these difficult times Angels is seeing more and more babies in need of loving families. We know that financial hardship can push stressed parents over the brink. The result is escalating abuse and neglect of the youngest and most fragile of our children. We need more help than ever to rescue these battered lives. As a mom and a pediatrician I'm honored to have the opportunity to serve this very special organization."

Thank You Corner
Thumbs Up Baby

Angels is very grateful for the donations we receive every month. Without the generousity of our friends we wouldn't be able to save innocent babies in need. We would like to thank our January donors! Click here to view the names.
