Foster Study Picture

Dear Angels families and supporters,

We are pleased to share that a  new Harvard Medical School study shows that high rates of mental and physical disorders typically found among adult alumni of public foster care programs were significantly reduced among alumni of a private foster care program.

As always, we thank all of you for your ongoing support.  I want to remind you that there is no amount of money, time or energy too great to spend on our children.  They are our angels, they are our future!

Warmly,

Cathy Richman

Dr. Mommy Photo
Dr. Mommy is better known as Rachel Zahn, MD, a pediatrician and local mom of three kids, ages 20, 18, and 14. All three were born during her medical training, earning her the title. Rachel is also one of our newest Angels Board members. She attended our annual luncheon last year and says "I was so impressed with the organization, and so moved by the kids and their stories that I had to offer to help. The more I learn about Angels, the more passionate I become about our goals."

Angels wants to give you the opportunity to send in your questions and have them answered by Dr. Mommy.

Please read Dr. Mommy's question:

Dear Dr. Mommy,

My partner and I have raised two kids, now ages 11 and 19, and are fostering an adorable four-week-old girl. We feel a little rusty on the subject of "when to call the doctor". The other evening our little cutie spit up several times after eating. It seemed like so much formula, we worried she'd lost the entire feeding. We went back and forth over whether or not to call, and finally decided it could wait 'til morning. The next day when we took her in to be checked the pediatrician said she looked fine, and probably had just eaten more than her small belly could hold. We were pleased we'd made the right call, but still feel like we're in the dark. Have things changed since our big guys were small? Can you give us some guidelines?

Denny and Anna Cooper Win a Trip To Hawaii
HawaiiLast summer, Angels started a contest that would award the foster family who referred in the largest number of individuals who would become Angels certified foster parents.  At the end of the 12 months, we are proud to announce that the Cooper family is our winner!

They referred in two families, one had 2 placements, and the other has one placement, so because of their referrals, we have rescued 3 babies with families who otherwise may not have known about Angels. Both of these families continue to foster for Angels, and will make their homes available for more babies in need as we need them.

We want to thank Bob Carne (Angels CPA) for donating his lovely condo in Kauai for a week's stay and thanks to various Angels board members for donating their "unused miles", the Coopers will fly for free.  Denny and Anna Cooper well deserve this wonderful get-away, having adopted 4 Angels children and having offered their homes and hearts to fostering many Angels babies in need of families over the past 9 years.  Aloha to Denny & Anna!
Angels Receives Gift From Former Canadian Prime Minister
Brian MulroneyThe former Prime Minister of Canada, Brian Mulroney made a donation to our program this month.  Former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney is well known for his friendship with former President Ronald Reagan.

Many remember him as he gave the eulogy at Ronald Reagan's funeral at the National Cathedral in Washington.  Receiving international recognition of our unique program sends a worldwide message about the need to protect all abused and abandoned babies!
