Prayer Requests
Each week we pray for a ministry or ministers in the PTCA. Click on the button below to find who we are praying for this week.
- As we prepare for the Memorial Day Weekend, we pray for veterans and active members of the Armed Forces, those dealing with injuries both mental and physical sustained during combat and for the families of servicemen and women who have died.
- We pray for traveling mercies for all those who are on the roads and skies this weekend for safe journeys.
- We continue to pray for those who are experiencing illness at this time including Dan Johnson (Teaching Elder, Honorably Retired), Joy Smith (Teaching Elder, Church of the Apostles), Ward Sessing (Ruling Elder, Church of the Way),Larry Patee (Ruling Elder, Buffalo), Mary McNamara (Teaching Elder, Honorably Retired and Tim Held (Teaching Elder, Honorably Retired).

Summer Office Hours at Presbytery
- The Presbytery office will be closed Monday, May 28 in observance of Memorial Day.
- Also, starting June 1, the Presbytery office will be open on Fridays from 8:30am-12:30pm for the duration of the summer.

Signup for Ubuntu!
 Ubuntu is the occasional email that focuses on a mission taking place in the Presbytery.
For the last month or so, we have been sending it out to everyone on the EMerge mailing list as way of introducing this new resource. Beginning with our next issue, the email will be sent automatically to churches, pastors and clerks of session. If you would like to get on the Ubuntu mailing list, please send your name, email address and congregation to communications@ptcaweb.org.

PTCA Youth Initiative Up and Running
 The PTCA Youth Initiative had its first meeting this week. Sarah Bigwood, Family Ministries Director at Valley Community Presbyterian in Golden Valley writes about the Initiative in a new blog set up to talk about PTCA Youth Ministry. Call to Special Presbytery Meeting
 The next Meeting of the Presbytery of the Twin Cities Area will be a special meeting on June 12, 2012 at Oak Grove Presbyterian Church in Bloomington, MN starting at 6:30PM. The main purpose of the meeting is the resumption of the process to discuss, amend and vote on the proposed Gracious Separation Policy

Around the Presbytery
 Pentecost Offering: According to the website of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), gifts to the Pentecost Offering "enable the PC(USA) to encourage, develop and support its young people, as well as provide assistance to at-risk children. In addition, a large portion of this offering can be kept by individual congregations for use in their own communities." The split is 60 percent for PC(USA) and 40 percent stays with the local congregation "to use for ministries with children at risk in their own communities." Help Chain of Lakes Promote "Sundaes on Wednesday": Chain of Lakes, the PTCA new church development in Lino Lakes is inviting the Presbytery to come and help them drop leaflets in the area on June 2 promoting their summer worship opportunity, "Sundaes on Wednesday." Read on to find out how you can take part in this opportunity.
Having a "Respectful Conversation" on Marriage: Dayton Avenue Presbyterian in St. Paul will host a "Respectful Conversation" on the proposed Marriage Amendment on May 30. This conversation is part of a series of events sponsored by the Minnesota Council of Church. Find out how you can take part.
 Presbytery Seeker Seminar Set for June: The Committee on Preparation for Ministry (CPM) will host a one day "seeker" seminar for individuals exploring a sense of call to Teaching Elder in the Presbyterian Church (USA) on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Valley Community Presbyterian Church in Golden Valley, MN.
This seminar provides a structured way of meeting with and orienting seekers to the opportunities, challenges and responsibilities that lie ahead should they pursue a formal relationship with the CPM... Read more...
 Synod School 2012: Synod School 2012, the annual midsummer ministry of the Synod of Lakes and Prairies, takes place Sunday through Friday, July 22-27, at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa. Synod School offers fun and mind-stretching courses, worship and singing that will be long remembered, and time for both fellowship and private reflection.
