  • We pray for Teaching Elder Annika Lister-Stroope, and the congregation at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis.  Annika has been called as Pastor at Federated Church in Columbus, Nebraska. Her last Sunday with the congregation of Westminster Minneapolis is April 16. 
  • We pray for those who are experiencing illness at this time including Dan Johnson (Teaching Elder, Honorably Retired), Joy Smith (Teaching Elder, Church of the Apostles), Ward Sessing (Ruling Elder, Church of the Way),Larry Patee (Ruling Elder, Buffalo) and Tim Held (Teaching Elder, Honorably Retired).

Seeker Seminar

The Committee on Preparation for Ministry (CPM) is hosting a one day "seeker" seminar for individuals exploring a sense of call to Teaching Elder in the PC(USA).  The event will take place Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Valley Community Presbyterian Church in Golden Valley, MN.

 

This seminar provides a structured way of meeting with and orienting seekers to the opportunities, challenges and responsibilities that lie ahead should they pursue a formal relationship with the CPM...

 

... The Seeker Seminar includes time for personal introductions, a presentation on spiritual disciplines and formation, conversation with members of the committee, lunch conversation with current inquirers and candidates under care of the Presbytery and a detailed review of the process of discernment and preparation.

An open hearing for the overture On honoring Christ in our relationships with one another will be held by the Bills and Overtures Committee on Tuesday, March 27th, 6:30PM - 8:00PM  at the Minnesota Church Center, 122 W. Franklin Avenue in Minneapolis . This is the overture that was discussed at the March Presbytery meeting and sent back to the Committee for presbytery input. The overture will be presented again at the May meeting.  A copy of the overture is located below. Questions may be addressed to the Committee Chair, Barbara Anne Keely at bando@ptcaweb.org. It's that time of the year: time to order your 2012-2013 Presbyterian Planning Calendars.  Each year, the Presbytery offers to consolidate orders in order to give you a better price.  We receive a price break with an order of at least 50 calendars then pass the savings on to you. Mission and Witness Congregational Grant Deadline April 1: Don't forget:  the Mission and Witness Committee  are now receiving 2012 Mission and Witness Grant Applications and urge you to submit your application before the April 1 deadline.  Find out how to apply

  

Congregational Ministry Seminar Scheduled for April: April 28, 2012 at Valley Community Presbyterian in Golden Valley. The Ministry in a Changing World seminar is for pastors and church leaders of all churches in the presbytery - an opportunity to help your church leadership recognize and realize your church's potential for ministry. Register before April 23 and the price is $20/person. Three or more from a congregation is $50 for the entire group. Click here find out more or to register. Presbyterian Women Spring Gathering: 

Presbyterian WomenThe Presbyterian Women of the Presbytery of the Twin Cities Area will have their Spring Gathering on April 21 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Austin.  The focus for this year's meeting is "Mission Possible: Projects Serving Those Near and Far."

sealBoundaries Training, April 12: Our presbytery requires all teaching elders and commissioned lay pastors to participate in Level 1 Healthy Boundaries training approved by the PTCA's Advocates for Integrity in Ministry (AIM) within one year of beginning one's ministry in this presbytery.

 

This year the PTCA will offer Level 1 Boundaries training on Thursday, April 12 and Saturday, October 27 at North Presbyterian Church in North St. Paul.  You may register on-line through the PTCA web site.  Check-in will begin at 8:30 am.  Instruction will begin promptly at 9 am and conclude at 2 pm. Become a Commissioned Ruling Elder: A Commissioned Ruling Elder is "is an elder of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) who is granted a local commission by the presbytery to lead worship and preach the gospel, watch over the people, and provide for their nurture and service." CREs can serve in various ways such as part-time pastors of small churches; in specialized pastoral ministries; as pastor to new immigrant populations or redeveloping churches. The Commissioned Ruling Elders Committee is looking for people who might be interested in this vital form of ministry.  Read on to find out more about Commissioned Ruling Elders and how you might become one.   

  

Planning for the Church Present and the Church Future: Two upcoming conference in May will give churches the tool to become more mission-oriented and  start more missional churches. Funding the Missional Church is a conference for those who wish to learn about creating sustainable congregations of faith in the 21st century. Workshop on Ministry Set For March 31: The Presbyterian Partnership Task Force is proud to sponsor the Presbyterian Partnership Workshop which will be held on March 31 at First Presbyterian Church in White Bear Lake from 9AM-Noon.  

 

Under the theme "Networking and Collaborating Together in Ministry," the event will include breakout sessions on such topics as church communications, facilities/building management, Christian Education and Mission. Information on cost and registration will follow shortly, but you can download a flyer, bulletin insert and graphics from the Presbytery website at www.presbyterytwincities.org/presbyworkshop.  

 

The Presbyterian Partnership is made up of six Presbyterian Church (USA) congregations in the Northern Twin Cities Metropolitan area.  These include: Arlington Hills Presbyterian in St. Paul, Chain of Lakes New Church Development in Lino Lakes, North Como Presbyterian Church in Roseville, North Presbyterian in North St. Paul, Presbyterian Church of the Way in Shoreview, and First Presbyterian Church, White Bear Lake.

 

   

Interested in a Conference or Workshop, but don't have the money? The Mission and Witness Committee of the PTCA is ready to help! A new streamlined 2012 Application for Scholarships to Conferences in the areas of Peace and Justice, Missions, Education, Disability Ministry and Leadership Development, is available online throughout the year. You can fill out the application online by going to www.presbyterytwincities.org/presbyteryforms.  



Common Prayer: As many of you know, the staff of the Presbytery of the Twin Cities Area gathers daily for prayer and devotions.  Join us every Tuesday at 10AM to pray! Called "Common Prayer" we will come together as we discern God's message for us and lift each other and the whole world in prayer. Join us at the Presbytery office for Common Prayer.
