Greetings!

Craig Sutton here from FishingNosara.com
for the August report. I just got back home to Jacksonville on Monday and I'm still pumped over the big 500lbs. Black Marlin we caught while shooting the Inside Sportfishing show:

Also, our new family members Kate and Travis Tabor came down to fish on the Wanderer with a big wish list and we managed to get Travis the Costa Rica Grand Slam he was seeking. Scott McKee and his friends wanted Marlin and Sails and they also got their wish on the Wanderer, rounding out their trips with and a couple of other species.

Once again Captain Eduardo on the Nice n' Tight and the big beast Sportsman are top boat again with lots of Yellowfin tunas and Sails. Captain Eduardo is always at or near the top spot every month.

The Master Captain Vibert on the Cabo also had some super trips including a 2.5 hour with Cayleah Matthews and her girls with lots of quality action. Cayleah and the girls were super-stoked and enjoyed all the tuna fillets during their stay in Nosara.

On the Wanderer Captain William and crew had some great trips including the days with Sam August, Shea McIntee and the posse with Inside Sportfishing show. Be sure to stay tuned to our fishing report for the times the show will air.

The scorecard for the Wanderer this month shows six Marlin, tons of Dorado, a bunch of Yellowfin Tuna, a few Sails and assorted species. The bite will continue until early September and we have some dates open if you want to make a quick trip down south to score some of the best Marlin fishing of the year.

Also our new Ocean Kayaks will arrive by September and will be ready to take clients to some areas that have never been explored. The Kayaks should result in some really good inshore fishing that has to date been untapped.

Captain Eduardo is one of the best anglers in Costa Rica and his reputation is well known throughout the Pacific coast. While last month he was a model of consistency with dozens of successful Yellowfin tuna catches, in August he has been working the Sailfish and Dorados.

On July 22, client David Mushrush and his friends were on the 31' Sportsman for a three-hour sunset cruise. They had a great view of some sunning whales and the lines were poppin' to the tune of two white tunas and a bonita. The next day client Robert had a similar trip on the 20' Nice n' Tight catching three white tunas and a pair of bonitas.

The bite turned on for client Greg on the Sportsman on August 2nd. Captain Eduardo pointed the big battle wagon out to the deep water and throughout the day they raised up 8 sailfish and released five of the 100 pound monste
rs. They also raised a big Marlin but it escaped before they could bill it.

Steve and David booked the Nice n' Tight on August 4th and Captian Eduardo put them on a frenzy of inshore fishing. They packed the
fishbox with 14 white tunas, two 15lbs. Dorados, and a nice Yellowfin tuna. Great trip!

August 5th brought client Len Deroven on the Sportsman for a great day of rod-bending action. He had two successful 100lbs. Sailfish releases to go along with two white tunas and two bonitos. They also raised a big Striped Marlin.

No rest for Captain Eduardo! On August 6th clients Chris and John booked the Nice n' Tight and had a very productive half-day fishing. Dinner was on as the fellas caught three 20lbs. Dorados and a 12lbs. Yellowfin tuna.

Annie and her friend fished the Nice n' Tight on August 8th and caught a pair of bonitas in just 3 hours of fishing. Later that day client Cherry was on the Sportsman and caught two macarellas and a nice bonita.

Two trips on two boats in one day?
That's why they call Captain Eduardo the hardest working man in fishing. He was also booked solid this last week, and as usual it's all happy clients and full fishboxes for Captain Eduardo.

On August 9th clients Sarah and Madeline were on the Nice n' Tight and brought home two white tunas and a football-sized Yella fella. The next day client Dane Chuck was aboard the mighty Sportsman and had a huge day on the inshore reefs. He came home with 8 Yellowfin tunas and a nice
Yellowtail snapper.

Most recently David Leibowitz booked a pair of trips on the Nice n' Tight and hauled in a 20lbs. Amberjack, two white tunas, two bonitas, and a 20lbs. Yellowfin tuna. Then on August 18th client Kenny caught two Yellows, a jack and a bonita.

If you are looking for a great trip with lots of fish, Captain Eduardo is your man. Contact us and reserve Captain Eduardo in advance; He's super-busy as always this time of year.

As the most seasoned member of the FishingNosara team, Captain Vibert brings a lifetime of knowledge to the water every time he goes fishing. As always Captain Vibert and First Mate Vibert Jr. had lots of satisfied clients this month with a wide variety of species in the fishbox.

On August 2nd client Zak Hawkins was on the 27' Cabo for a half-day fishing and was bending the rods all day long. They ended up with two white tunas and a tasty Yellowfin tuna on ice, but they lost at least six big fish on the bottom. Captain Vibert rarely loses this many fish, but the action alone speaks to his knowledge of the local reef fish and their feeding habits.

Karen Peterson and her friends booked the Cabo on August 8th for a three-hour trip to the reefs. They had a great time and caught a beefy jack and a pair of bonitas. Then on August 10th Olga Milakovic and her friends also had a three-hour trip on the Cabo. They worked the reefs hard and came back with a small Dorado, a Yellowfin tuna, a macarella, and three bonitas.

Most recently Captain Vibert welcomed Ken Fukioka and friends on the Cabo for a half-day fishing. They got started on a white tuna and a macarella, but got the big strike from a 25lbs. Grouper.

They rounded out the day inshore where they caught a barracuda and a 15lbs. jack.

Captain William has the Wanderer running smoothly and along with Mates David and Alex had a fantastic month with big Marlins, Sailfish, Cuberra Snappers, and (of course) lots of happy clients. To top it off, they brought a 500lbs. Marlin right into the living rooms of 25 million viewers thanks to the crew from Inside Sportfishing and Endless Fun Productions. What a great month!

On July 20th clients Doug, Ken, and Gina booked the Wanderer for a day of fishing and fun. Doug writes, "On the first trip, we had a nice Marlin hookup but after an hour, lost the battle.  Later that day, I landed a nice sailfish estimated at 125lbs."

Doug was so stoked that on July 29th he enlisted his buddies Earl and Kevin to head out for another trip. Once again, They were on the hunt for Marlin. Doug writes, "On the second trip, we had six Marlin strikes but unfortunately no hook-ups. We did find a nice barrel floating and holding bait fish. We ended up landing four huge Dorado - 50lb-70lb range."

He was all smiles back on shore. "Captain William, David and Alex were a ton of fun to fish with. I would recommend Captain William, the Wanderer, and it's crew to anyone. These were two of the best days I spent during my month in the Nosara."

Peter Ferola had a nice three hour trip in late July with a few friends. They caught five bonitas, a white tuna, and hard-fightin' Amberjack.

July 30th was a busy day on the Wanderer. First, client Jody Barone was on board for a half-day fishing for the big billfish. They trolled all over the area and got lots of bites. Unfortunately they lost a big Marlin but they hooked up some Sails.

It was all smiles by the end of the day; they had caught and released two MASSIVE 100lbs. Sailfish. Awesome job!

Captain William and the crew barely had time to say goodbye to Jody because the Wanderer was booked for a Sunset cruise that evening.

Client Ronald Smith and his party enjoyed a cool sunset cruise. They caught a 20lbs. Amberjack and enjoyed pods of whales and packs of dolphins. As usual with the Sunset cruise, fishing is optional but relaxation and fun are mandatory!

August 2010 will be a month that goes down in FishingNosara history, and client John Cooper got it off to a great start on August 1st by catching a MASSIVE 45lbs. Cuberra snapper. It was only a sign of the great month to come!

On August 3rd we welcomed our new friend Travis Tabor for the first of five full days fishing. Travis is a fellow First Coaster (he hails from St. Augustine) and he brought some trademark Florida enthusiasm with him.

The first day was a little slow, but his second trip things picked up in a big way. On August 4th Travis started off the day with two awesome Sailfish releases.

Then a big bad Blue Marlin came tearing through the spread and hit the high speed marlin rig like a steam locomotive. After a brief but vigorous fight, they boated and released this incredible Blue Marlin.

August 5th was full of action but with more humble results. Captain William put Travis on a couple of Sailfish, but they managed to escape this time. They rounded out the evening on the inshore reef and filled the sushi trays with an assortment of tunas.

With the Sailfish and Marlin in the bag, Travis decided to make a run at the legendary Costa Rica Grand Slam. Next up was the red devil known as Cuberra Snapper.

Using FishingNosara's exclusive Cuberra Fishing Tactic, Mr. Tabor hauled in this evil looking 45lbs. Cuberra off the bottom despite this species' reputation for fighting like the devil. Nice smile by the way!

Could Travis catch the elusive Rooster Fish and complete the Costa Rica Grand Slam? The suspense would build as we'd have to wait a few days to find out.

On August 6th client Scott McKee and his friends were on the Wanderer for the first of three full days fishing. On the first trip they caught a nice-sized Dorado and hooked up but lost a pair of Sailfish.

August 7th was the high point for Scott McKee's party as they caught two fish of a lifetime. First up was this 100lbs. Sailfish (above) that put on a real show for these anglers. After a safe release, they set their sights on the big daddy Blue Marlin.

What a fight! This guy was a heck of a catch and he wanted no part of a photo session. This is as close as he felt like coming, and Scott clearly had no problem with that. The party rounded out their trip on the 3rd day with a nice Yellowfin tuna and a brutish Amberjack.

It was as real special honor to welcome Sam August, Shea McIntee, and the rest of the Inside Sportfishing crew to Nosara for a week of enjoyment in our little slice of paradise. They took several Costa Rica Safari Tours of the surrounding areas and absorbed the pura vida culture, food and fun.

They kicked off the first of their three full days fishing with a real treat: The Return of Travis Tabor! That's right, he was back on the Wanderer to finish the Grand Slam.

All eyes and lenses were waiting for Travis' Rooster to rear it's head. First thing in the morning, he nailed this 30lbs. Rooster Fish, completing the Costa Rica Grand Slam. Throughout the day the TV show crew boated a half-dozen Yellowfin tunas.

Congratulations Travis, you have accomplished one of the rarest feats in Fishing.
Pura Vida Amigo!

Meanwhile Craig, Andrew, and the Inside Sportfishing crew had one thing on their minds on August 11th: Marlin.

Captain William and the crew set a fast trolled waited for the monster.

This bad boy came tearing up the spread and hit the naked ballyhoo rig so hard it almost pulled the rod holder right off the boat. After an amazingly acrobatic 45 minute fight, the fish was finally in range to be billed. With the stress of the fight and the huge stature of the fish, the Captain decided to release without removing it from the water.

On the final day of filming, the crew got a Blue Marlin hooked up and tailwalking for the cameras, but this one got away. They retreated to the reefs and caught a whole boatload of Yellowfin Tunas and Dorados.

Look for episodes of Inside Sportfishing from Nosara in the near future. It was a blast to host these seasoned world travelers and treat them to some world-class fishing and down-home fun!

On August 15th Craig enjoyed his last day in Costa on the Wanderer along with good friends Andrew (from Playa Garza), Andrew (from Playa Jacksonville), and the Georgia peach Paula. It was a relaxing trip without the hustle and bustle of the TV crew, but Craig still found time to catch a 150lbs. Striped Marlin. A great end to a great trip!

Captain William and the boys are feeling on top of the world these days. The fish are biting, the clients are smiling, and the schedule is filling up fast. Hurry up and contact us to book the Wanderer today.

LATE REPORT: On August 18th client Mike Miller caught five Yellowfin tunas, three Dorados, and three white tunas; all the fish were around 10-12lbs.
