Greetings!
Craig Sutton here with FishingNosara.com
for the March report. While there have been some Sailfish, Yellowfin tuna, and a few Marlin the fishing has been spotty...not the usual non-stop action that March brings. Fortunately our Captains have the experience to satisfy their clients despite adverse conditions.
Captain Vibert had a great month keeping the rods bent for his clients on the Cabo. I have no doubt that the Master Captain will continue his catching ways.
Captain Carlos did his usual great job on the Reel Deel
with several clients including multiple days with Barbara Sawyer. He
also won the 2010 Ship of Fools tournament, a huge accomplishment and
real honor for Captain Carlos and crew. See the hardware below in Carlos' report.
Captain Eduardo has had some great trips raising some Marlins and Sailfish on the Nice n' Tight and the Sportsman, highlighted by some superb multiple billfish days and a 200+lbs. Blue Marlin release. More on Eduardo's great month below!
Captain William on the Wanderer had the other Marlin release of the month, and though all the boats have been raising the big boys, few have made them eat. Clearly his lifetime of experience is on display every time William hits the water.
We're keeping quite busy stateside as well! FishingNosara.com was a proud to be a Platinum Sponsor of the 2010 El Cheapo Sheepshead Tournament in Jacksonville, FL and I'm pleased to announce that our very own Hunter Mullen took home 3rd place in the Junior Division. Also we are excited to see ourselves on TV starting this weekend thanks to Captain Don Dingman's Hook The Future. The first of two episodes filmed in our area airs this weekend. Look below for a full viewing schedule.
I am heading down to Costa Rica on the 19th and will be fishing from the 21st to the 31st for big bad Black and Blue Marlins, and of course the late-afternoon stop for the giant red Buicks they call Cuberra Snapper. I'm also eyeballing those big snook in the Nosara River. Stay Tuned!
Tight lines and Pura Vida!

will be featured on upcoming episodes of HOOK THE FUTURE with Capt.
Don Dingman. Mark your calendars, set your DVRs, and gather your
fishing buddies for some great fishing with some great kids. Pura Vida!

While Captain Vibert Blanche finalizes the refit of the 32' Aimee Marie he has been tearing up the inshore reefs on board the Cabo. He's had several fun and productive charters this month, and along with First Mate Vibert, Jr. the Master Captain shows no signs of letting up.
On March 3rd client Hunter Tyree had all kinds of bites popping the lines. On just a three hour trip he caught three Black tunas and a nice 12lbs. White tuna. Captain Vibert's experience on the nearby reefs consistently provides clients this kind of action-packed fishing.
Just ask client Lee Apgas, who was on board the Cabo on March 9th. He also signed up for a three hour trip and in that short time he reeled in five Black tunas and a beautiful 13lbs. Yellowfin tuna.
On March 10th client Dan Bracec went our for three hours looking for the BIG Cuberra Snappers that lurk deep within the safety of the reefs. He started out catching the requisite Black tuna, then applied our specialized FishingNosara Tactic to hook up the big boys. The fish bit, but he was just too big to fight and escaped back to the depths.
These Cuberras can grow up to 400lbs., but once they get bigger than 100lbs. you can forget about catching them. A few days later client Ned Garber got himself a Snapper, but this one was much more reasonably sized.
Captain Vibert escorted this quintet of yogis for a three hours sunset cruise and in addition to enjoying the scenery, turtles, whales, and dolphins they also got on a few fish. Remember that FishingNosara's boats aren't just for fishing. Many clients enjoy snorkeling, sightseeing, and surfing right from our boats. All of our rates, boats, and adventures are customizable to fit the needs of you and your party.

Captain Carlos and the legendary Reel Deel are the gold standard of Sportfishing in Nosara. The 26-foot Mako has consistently out-dueled boats twice her size and is just as comfortable and stylish a ride as you could imagine.
On March 3rd our great friend and longtime client Captain Dan Parker and his wife Charlene asked Captain Carlos for Marlin. What do you think Carlos did for 'em? He went out and put them on a 250lbs. Black Marlin. It came tearing up through the spread and hooked up strong. The fish was acrobatic and fought hard all the way to the boat, then escaped on a dive about 100 feet out. Captain Dan lost this one, but he's no stranger to a good Marlin fight!
March 11th brought better luck to the Reel Deel. With Captain Carlos' guidance these clients released two massive Sailfish and kept an awesome Dorado. Unfortunately they lost a 130lbs.Yellowfin tuna after a grueling fight, but that Dorado certainly provided plenty of good eatin'!
Finally, Captain Carlos and his crew earned a great honor this month by winning the 2010 Marlin Bill's Playa Garza 'Ship of Fools' Tournament. This is a very prestigious event and Captain Carlos is a multiple previous champ. They caught and release two massive Sailfish and 38lbs. Yellowfin tuna to solidify the championship; they also lost a big Striped Marlin. It's always great when our Captains bring home some hardware and solidify their reputation as the best in the business. Great work guys, we are all very proud of you!

 | Captain Eduardo has both of his boats in the water and has stepped up the level of fishing for all the other boats in the area. Armed with the 32' Sportsman and the 20' Nice n' Tight, Captain Eduardo is equipped to hunt any size fish with any size party of anglers.
He wasn't immune to the rough conditions early in the month with client Jeff Marit on the Sportsman striking out on a three hour trip on March 1st. and client Greg Dunoghe having similarly bad luck on the Nice n' Tight on March 5th. The Nice n' Tight did track down some Black Tunas for clients Carl and John on March 3rd and 6th respectively. The Bite turned on in a big way on March 7th for client John Mysak. He fished five straight days with Captain Eduardo on the Nice n' Tight and it seems clear that the fish still don't know what hit 'em.
The best day was the first with a 100+lbs. Sailfish release, a nice White Tuna and a tasty Yellowfin...and that was before lunch! Once they got out to the deep water in the early afternoon the spread was attacked by a 200+lbs. Blue Marlin! Mr. Mysak fought him all the way, never gave up, and set-up the crew to successfully live release the big blue monster. Perfect teamwork, perfect fish.
John followed up with another strong performance on March 8th catching a nice Amberjack, a 40lbs. Wahoo, and releasing another glorious 100+lbs. Sailfish. Over his final three days he also put a 45lbs. Dorado in the fishbox and lost a few 50lbs. Yellowfin Tunas. Captain Eduardo and the crew did and excellent job of keeping the client on fish and live releasing all the great billfish catches.
 | Our most recent update from Captain Eduardo reports that clients Paul
and Susan had a HUGE day on the Sportsman on March 17th. They nabbed a
few nice Black tunas, a 45lbs. Amberjack, and released two magnificent
130lbs. Sailfish.
Clearly the bite is coming on strong and
should stay around for the next few months. Captain Eduardo is locked
and loaded and waiting to put you on some serious fishing.

Captain William has the Wanderer dialed-in and spent this month catching loads of fish and making all of his clients very happy.
Things got off to a fast start on February 20th when client David Yudelson put the local Black marlin population on the run. They had action in the spread all day and lost an angry 500lbs. tail-walking Black Marlin. David and the boys hung tough, and later in the day they caught and released a Black Marlin around 250lbs.
He finished his day off with some topwater casting a caught a variety of reef fish. Great day David!
Clients Jim, Marc, and Jeanette declared War on the Sailfish on February 25th. Look at these catches!
In late-February we welcomed Captain Dan Parker, a legend in the Northeast Florida fishing community as both an angler and as the owner of Pinpoint Marine. He was in Nosara with his wife Charlene for three 3/4 days on the Wanderer and they had a great time.
On February 26th Captain Dan caught this sweet Wahoo and fought bitterly with a 400lbs. Marlin, which jumped off the hook about 200 feet off the transom.
On February 28th Mrs. Parker was on the reel to bring home this thick Dorado. Even though the big Marlin evaded Captain Parker this time, he and his wife had a blast on the new boat and are already planning their next foray into these fertile fishing grounds.
Jonathan Temple and his party had a fantastic 3/4 day on the Wanderer on February 27th with lots of good bites and nice fish.
The action started fast with six Yellowfin tuna in the fishbox before Noon. Then they caught a 35lbs. Cuberra Snapper and a feisty little Yellowtail snapper. Mr. Temple is a Jacksonville resident, and like all our Northeast Florida guests he knows what to do when the rods start bending. The whole party had a great time and did some great work on the reef!
March 3rd brought client Henry Doggrell, Jr. on board the Wanderer for a half-day. He stayed on the reef and caught a White tuna and fifteen Black tunas. Mr. Doggrell topped that effort with this incredible 70lbs. Rooster Fish. Pound-for-pound the Rooster is one of the hardest fighting fish in the world and the biggest one we have seen around here so far this year. Awesome catch Henry!
Client Submitted Report - March 5th, 2010 client Derek Pouchnik of Viola, Idaho
"We had a great day on the water with William, David and Alex. We drove down to the office on the day before our fishing trip and met Manuel who was very pleasant and made sure we knew where we needed to be the next day.""We fished for quite a while with nothing then seemingly out of nowhere 'fish on' and we eventually landed a beautiful sail fish (~110lbs!). We got some nice photos and let him go. Then probably an hour or so later we picked up a gorgeous Dorado of probably 45-50 pounds! My wife caught that one and that was really what she had dreamed of getting. So, that pretty much made the trip for her.
Alex made us up some nice fresh sushi with a bit of wasabi and soy, mmm.....We tried hard to get my sister into a good fish but that was it. We did have I think two other fish in the spread but nothing on the hook. It was a great trip. We were very happy with the crew and the work they did."
On March 7th, 8th, and 9th client Jonathan Fanning and his group were on the Wanderer for some very active trips. First they had a nice Sailfish catch and release, then on the second day they caught a pair of Yellowfin tunas and a decent White tuna. All in all they had some fun trips.
Most recently client Vanessa Mazandi and her friends had a great trip catching two Yellowtail snappers, an Amberjack, and a Yellowfin tuna. Although these fellas weren't tipping the scales, they are a load of fun to catch and still make for some great sushi!
"It was definitely a great trip!" said Vanessa.
The Wanderer has room for you and your party, but act fast to lock in your dates. We're looking forward to even better fishing this upcoming month. Pura Vida!

Safari Tours
Recently these members of the Ocean Glow Yoga Retreat were on board the Wanderer for some sightseeing and snorkeling. They saw dolphins on the ride out to the reef and they saw lobsters,
fishes, and an octopus while snorkeling. They finished the day at Playa Rosada and had a great time.
