Greetings!

      This is Craig Sutton with
FishingNosara.com and NosaraParadiseRentals.com and I can sum up this month's fishing with a big WOW! After The Outdoors Show left, we were pleased to welcome Captain Roger Walker and the crew of the Florida Sportsman Radio Show from Jacksonville, FL (aired every Saturday morning on 930 AM). Captain Roger Walker is a very accomplished fisherman with 35 years of charter fishing experience and numerous tournament wins. It was a true pleasure to show Captain Walker and crew our little paradise.
After Captain Walker returned to Florida we were honored to have Dan and Charlene Parker and Eddie and Sandy McGowan. They were the winners of the 48th Annual Jacksonville Anglers South Florida Billfish Tournament, and their prize included several days of great fishing. I am particularly happy to report that Dan Parker got his 1st blue marlin and he left Nosara with a smile as big as the 450lbs. fish!
I will be returning to Costa on the 24th of May and hope to score some of the big marlin that seem to be in our stretch of reef this time of year. It looks like the big dorado and marlin with continue to bite for the next three months, with August projected to be our best month for the big boys.
Also, FishingNosara.com is now offering a full range of Safari Tours with David Barrantes, a lifelong resident of the area and an expert in local flora and fauna. Your party can now snorkel the reefs, fish from the beach, ride horses into the mountains, and explore the native wildlife of Costa Rica. It is my dream that through these Safari Tours you can come to love this area of the world as much as I have.
Our calendar is filling up fast with bookings for this season, and we already have a few groups booked for this time next year. If you are thinking of coming down, please book as soon as possible.
Finally, please take a look below at the progress of our new boat Wanderer which will be shipping to Costa Rica this summer.

                                                      Tight lines and Pura Vida!

Captain Carlos Barrantes

Captain Carlos started off the month of May with a pair of trips on the 1st and 3rd with Roger Walker. On the first day they landed six sailfish ranging from 120lbs. to 140lbs. The second cruise brought in a second massive sailfish, also 140lbs.

Meanwhile Captain Carlos and client Joe had a heck of a day on May 2nd, catching four 12lbs. bonitas
and a 11lbs. ceda snapper.

On May 8th and May 9th, Captain Carlos and Dan Parker ran the gamut of species available in Costa Rica's closest and best deep water. On the first day they caught two 100lbs.
sailfish, a 40lbs. dorado, and a nice 10lbs. white tuna.

The next day, they started off with three 15lbs. yellowfin tunas and three 20lbs. dorados. A few minutes later when that 40lbs. wahoo hit the fish box, there was only one thing left to get. Sure enough, a 250lbs. Marlin came tearing through the spread and Mr. Parker hooked him up, completing a two day trip that saw a little bit of everything.

This trend of diversity held strong for client Frank Poter, who booked four days with Captain Carlos starting on May 10th.

They started off by doing a little scouting and sightseeing, pulling in a nice 15lbs. dorado and a pair of 20lbs yellow tunas. The first big hit came on the 11th, when Frank hauled in a 125lbs. sailfish and another pair of 25lbs. dorado.

On May 12th Frank Poter got his first shot at some rooster fish, and he wiped the smile off two of their faces (33lbs. and 43lbs). Also, Mr. Poter boated a 58lbs. cubera snapper in the afternoon. When the late bite set it, Captain Carlos and the crew found a 145lbs. sailfish at the end of Mr. Poter's line.

Finally, on May 15th Mr. Poter finished his week with Captain Carlos by catching ANOTHER 130lbs. sailfish! This went nicely with his seven 18lbs. yellowfin tunas, four Dorados in the 33lbs. range, and a gorgeous 38lbs.wahoo.

Captain Vibert Blanche

Captain Vibert got The Outdoors Show team onboard for one of the most memorable catches of the year. Crewed by Vibert Blanche Jr. and David Barrantes, Captain Vibert took the Cabo inshore first, sight casting around for the shallow fish. They left the area after hauling in a 50lbs. caberra that according to Craig Sutton "hit the lure like a big red Buick!"

Around 2:00pm they headed out for deeper water. They trolled around for less than a hour before a magnificent 400lbs. black marlin hit the spread.

Kevin Faver fought the great fish for 40 minutes, highlighted by a 35 second stretch of above-water motion. After a grueling fight, and a long week of fishing, Mr. Faver had caught himself a big-time Costa Rican black marlin!

"Everytime I think about that fish, a big smile creeps across my face," said Kevin Faver, one week after the catch.

On May 2nd, Captain Vibert and Dan Parker caught four 17lbs. jack and had two
marlins and eight sailfish raised.

Captain Eduardo Carrillo

April 21st was Captain Eduardo's turn with The Outdoors Show team. Kevin and Carrie Faver, Mike, Craig and Manuel were along for the cruise. They warmed up by catching a 35lbs. dorado and a 35lbs. yellow tuna. The big hit came in the form of this strong-fighting 120lbs. sailfish.

On May 5th, Captain Eduardo cruised the deep water with client David Isaac. The started of with three 10lbs. white tuna, then finished their day with a 15lbs. jack

Then on May 15th Captain Eduardo had a huge day with Andy. The weather was perfect with a light chop in the waves. As soon as the spread went out, the sailfish came calling. The first hit was a mere 90lbs., but the bite stayed strong enough to pull in a 130lbs. sailfish.

By day's end, they had caught a total of seven sailfish, with the largest estimated at 140lbs!
