Summary

This is Craig Sutton with FishingNosara.com and NosaraParadiseRentals.com, and here is the latest report from Costa Rica. I just got back to Florida and the Marlin bite is still going strong. We've had several clients raising multiple Marlin and sailfish every day this month.

On Februrary 1st, Captain Carlos took Javier (our office manager), Manuel (our concierge), and me on the Reel Deal  where we raised three Black Marlins, burying hooks in two of them. One of the Blacks looked to be in the 800-1000lbs. range! Seriously...follow this link and take a look at the new video for a taste of the action. We finished off the day with a pair of 35lbs. Dorado. Likewise, most of our clients are enjoying the in-shore mixed catches and lots of Dorado, Yellowfin, and Wahoo.

We are extremely happy to see Captain David Barrantes back on the water; his clients have seen some great catches already. In late January he released 300lbs. Blue Marlin, and we hope to have the video of that strike very soon. Captain David is looking forward to an awesome season, and it's great to have him on the team.

Captain Vibert Blanche has been loading up on the bottom fish for his clients, plus several of his trips have taken advantage of our new Sportsman Package...remember we have all-new snorkeling gear with masks, fins, and snorkels in all sizes (even children) and this package can be added to any fishing trip.

Also, Captain Eduardo Carrillo has been super busy on Nice n' Tight , boating a 45lbs. grouper just last week. He put together a super run from February 8th-16th, fishing seven out of ten days and bringing in big fish and bigger smiles from his clients on every trip.

Finally, Captain Carlos Barrantes had some outstanding days with Mike Young, boating all manner of Yellowfin, Dorado, Wahoo, and Roosters, plus he raised a 300lbs. Blue Marlin. Follow this link to watch a new video of one of Mike's Yellowfin catches.

It looks like the Marlin bite will stay strong for another month or two. I will be back in Nosara on March 14th to take another swing at the big ones. We still have some dates open for late April and May, so if you want to sample some of the most fantastic fishing of the season, you better hurry!

Tight lines and Pura Vida!

Captain Carlos Barrantes

Captain Carlos has long been one of our strongest captains, and this month has been no exception. On January 18th he took Mike Y. out of the Reel Deal catching 8 black tuna and a nice yellowfin tuna. They also just missed on a 30lbs. dorado. Mike Y. followed up on January 28th for 7 more yellowfin.

Jin A. went out on January 30th for a short excursion and came home with two good-sized black tuna. The next day Tom S. snagged two 13lbs. yellowfin tuna.

Captain Carlos started February strong, scoring a 37lbs. snapper, a 26lbs. cabrilla, and a trio of nice tuna with Scott on the 2nd. That same day Patrick W. caught his own trio of tuna and a good-sized macarela.

On February 4th Robert L. had a HUGE day bringing in a 60lbs. rooster fish, 8 - 20lbs. jacks, and 12 tuna of the white, black, and yellowfin variety. Needless to say Captain Carlos had to make his famous on-the-boat sushi.

The next day, Captain Carlos and Jim H. boated several 12lbs. tuna (black, yellow) and were kept occupied by 8 - 30lbs. jacks. February 8th was a busy day for the crew of Reel Deal as Jess caught 4 -13lbs. white tuna, 2 -10lbs. black tuna, 2 - 10lbs. macarelas, a 10lbs. yellow tuna, and two 40lbs. hojarans!

Most recently, Mike went out marlin hunting with Captain Carlos on the 12th. They lost a 300 pounder, but were appeased by a 20lbs. dorado, a 35lbs. wahoo, and two roosterfish tipping the scales at 43lbs. and 60lbs. Captain Carlos has been on a catching streak lately, so book him now while he still has openings.

On New Years Eve Captain Vibert took Mary P. out for a short cruise. She caught a 15lbs. wahoo and a nice pair of black tuna.

Vibert started February with a quick trip on the 4th for Jessica W. They came back with a nice big snapper, and a few others had gotten away.

Captain Vibert has been fishing so hard that we are still awaiting his most recent updates. Keep a weathered eye on the daily report update for the rest of Captain Vibert's February round-up.
