Please be respectful of the other WSC teams and adhere to the field schedule.  Our fields are quite crammed this spring and we all need to work together and cooperate with other teams.

Understand that the High School teams have priority on the fields.  Please stay off of the field if a High School team is using it.

A reminder that if fields are closed by the Town, all WSC teams are to stay off of the fields.

It is essential that all teams comply with the field closures, so check the hotline or the website!

Hotline: 1-781-440-6501

Please respect our fields, clean up after your team.  Thanks in advance for your cooperation!

Zero Tolerance!

referees
Just a reminder that Winchester Soccer Club adheres to the Mass Youth Soccer and BAYS Travel League Zero Tolerance Policy towards game referees.

All coaches and all spectators shall support the referee. Failure to do so will undermine the referee's authority and has the potential of creating a hostile environment for the players, the referee, and all the other participants and spectators.

The WSC asks all coaches and spectators to review the Zero Tolerance Policy and to support our young referees by complying with this policy.

TOPSoccer: Reaching out to disabled youth for over a decade

WSC LogoTOPS, The Outreach Program for Soccer will kick off its spring season Sunday, May 4 at Lynch Field.  Sessions run from 1:30 to 2:30 on Sundays through June 15, 2008.  There is no session on Memorial Day weekend.

Critical to the success of the program is the collection of typically developing junior coaches who volunteer their time each week to ensure that a special needs child is able to fully participate in each session.

If you are interested in participating WSC's TOPS program as a junior coach (ages 12 and up - no soccer experience necessary), an athlete (ages 6 to 16) or an adult volunteer, please contact Melinda Weber at melindaweber@comcast.net.

Junior Coaches Matt Lindmark, Matt Smith and athlete Adam Horwitz enjoy an afternoon of TOPSoccer.

Manchester Field Project

Soccer BallOn April 10th the Winchester Soccer Club represented all of the Winchester Youth Sports in a 'One Voice' show of support for the Manchester Field Project.  Click here to view a copy of the presentation.

The Manchester Field renovation would include a new track and baseball field for the high school, football field for the middle school and high school programs, and a multi-use turf field for soccer, field hockey and lacrosse.

Winchester has very limited field space and our field utilization, as a town, has reached an all time high. In fact, most of our fields are utilized at 95-100% of their capacity.

A redesigned Manchester Field complete with turf and lights will expand our field inventory through extended hours and decreased field closures due to weather conditions.

Carpooling is Good for the Players and Good for the Parents and Saves Gas Money!

CarpoolThe BAYS geographic group of towns runs basically from Winchester down to North Attleboro - so our two towns frame the northern and southern borders, basically.  Someone has to be on the northern end!  This does mean in some brackets our teams have a few games with longer drive times.  Think of this as an opportunity versus an economic (i.e. gas), time or social challenge!

Our experience running a lot of travel teams over many seasons is these travel games are the most fun.  Why? One word: Bonding.  Parents and Players!

One of us drove by the car driving a group of girls last week (the car has a load of parents) -and when we went by them - the girls were absolutely in a doubled over fit of laugher over something, who knows what.  You just cannot replace that - the fun of soccer takes many forms - and happy players contribute to making good and successful players. Longer drives actually make this situation more likely to arise.

So next time you are about to say - "Coach, we will meet you at the field" - think twice.  Carpooling from a location like the Swim Club or VO parking lots - is defiantly the way to go.  Save money too!

Pile the kids into a couple of cars - and even more challenging get the parents into just a few too!  Designate someone, give the coach a break, to just organize this stuff.   It is easy - and well worth the effort!

CarpoolA Message from the WSC Ombudsman Committee:  Jan Koss, Tom Schneider, Doug Darby, Joanne Baldini and JD Hale, Chair.

As always, visit our website at www.winchestersoccer.net for the latest news and program reminders.

Don't forget to check the website or the Field Status Hotline 781-440-6501 before heading to the fields.
