NACCHO's Accreditation Preparation and Quality Improvement team hopes you had a very relaxing and enjoyable holiday season. We have been busy making our 2012 new year's resolutions, and we are excited to share them with you.
 1. Interact MORE with YOU Starting in 2012, we plan to connect with our readers through every issue of accreditNATION. Each issue will feature an interactive poll that will help us ensure we are addressing your agency's accreditation preparation and QI needs. After you answer each poll, you'll receive a special "thank you" - a performance improvement tip from experts or peers in the field. Take the first poll HERE. 2. Provide valuable resources around LHD Strategic Planning
You asked and we listened! We know that many local health departments feel overwhelmed by strategic planning, so we are working diligently to compile a how-to guide, schedule a free webinar, and plan an in-person training workshop around developing an agency strategic plan that satisfies accreditation requirements. We expect much of this information to be available NEXT MONTH, so stay tuned!
3. Provide more TRAINING opportunities
NACCHO offers in-person trainings for state and national level meetings and will provide speakers for your events from our Speakers Bureau of Accreditation Champions. We know that training is a crucial need in the field and we look forward to helping local health departments learn more about preparing to achieve accreditation.
4. Embrace media and technology
Soon we will release the first of several podcasts and videos for local governing entities (boards of health, county commissioners, etc) that will provide information about public health accreditation. We will also continue to embrace Twitter, Facebook, and other social media platforms as ways to learn more about local health departments and share resources with them. We also plan to continue improving our website based on your feedback. Look for a newly revamped Quality Improvement page in the spring! We will, of course, continue our quarterly webinars and our monthly Performance Improvement Technical Assistance Webinars to provide timely information, resources and technical assistance.
5. Stock up on example documentation!
We've received great feedback from YOU about our website featuring example documentation for accreditation preparation. But we also know that we need to add MORE examples to this repository so that it can be even more useful. We resolve to find more great examples from health departments currently going through accreditation, but we need your help. Does your agency have documentation that can be used for accreditation? Please send them to us today!
WHAT ARE YOUR AGENCY'S RESOLUTIONS AROUND ACCREDITATION AND QI?
Share them with us on Facebook and/or Twitter (#Accreditation). We will include a list in our next issue of accreditNATION. Thanks again for all of your hard work - best wishes in 2012!
