FirstArticleNew! NACCHO Performance Improvement Technical Assistance Teleconference Series for Local Health Departments

In September 2011 NACCHO will launch the Performance Improvement Technical Assistance Teleconference Series aimed at responding to timely, common technical assistance (TA) requests of local health departments related to accreditation, community health assessment and improvement planning processes, Mobilizing for Action through Planning and Partnerships (MAPP) and more!

The first call will take place on September 8 at 2 pm EDT.

This call will focus on how to work with local public health system partners in preparing for a community health improvement process. Participation is free but registration is required. To register for the call, click here. The call is intended to be interactive. NACCHO staff will provide an overview and answer questions on this topic, but participants should also be prepared to share their thoughts and dialogue with each other during the call.

Calls will take place monthly and will be developed based on YOUR input. To submit questions for next month's call, send an e-mail to performance@naccho.org. Feel free to provide as much context and information in your request as you are able, as this will help us respond to questions in a manner that not only assists you and your agency, but the field at large, as many agencies may have similar questions. Calls are designed to be informal and all questions are welcome!

As always, NACCHO staff are here to answer your questions and provide you with timely and effective TA for all of your performance improvement needs.

* An archived recording and transcript will be available after the call.

Article1Preparing for Accreditation? View Examples of Documentation LHDs are using to Meet Standards and Measures

The PHAB Standards and Measures Version 1.0 document (available online at www.phaboard.org) sets forth what documentation is required to demonstrate compliance with each measure. NACCHO has developed an online repository of examples that LHDs intend to submit to demonstrate compliance when they apply for PHAB accreditation.

These examples can be useful to health departments when they are selecting documentation to submit to PHAB. The examples are not intended to serve as templates for agencies to copy, but are meant to serve simply as examples for consideration.

***No health department has yet received PHAB accreditation status or an indication of the likelihood of accreditation status. Therefore the example documentation does not reflect items that have been scored or deemed to comply with PHAB measures.***

Visit NACCHO's Example Documentation for Accreditation website to view the examples collected to date.  If your agency is preparing for accreditation and has developed documentation that you believe meets PHAB requirements, you are invited to showcase your work on our website. Example documentation will be reviewed by NACCHO staff before posting. Be sure to check the website often, as additional examples will be added as they are received.

Article2Organizing your Accreditation Documentation: Free Accreditation File for "Mind Manager" Software

The Spokane Regional Health District (SRHD) has developed a file that is pre-populated with content from the PHAB Standards and Measures version 1.0 document (local version) for use with Mind Manager software. Mind Manager is an information mapping program compatible with most operating systems that can be used for organizing documentation intended for submission for PHAB accreditation. When the file is added to the Mind Manager software, users can upload documentation for each accreditation measure, and include notes on how the documentation contributes to meeting the measure.

NACCHO is disseminating copies of the file on CDs on behalf of SRHD, for use by local health departments that are using the Mind Manager software in their agencies. These CDs are available FREE to any local health department that has Mind Manager software and seeks to use it for organization of accreditation documentation. Please note that the file is for use ONLY WITH MIND MANAGER SOFTWARE. If you do not have the Mind Manager software, the file will not open and cannot be used.  For more information about Mind Manager, visit www.mindjet.com. To request a CD ROM of the file from NACCHO, e-mail accreditprep@naccho.org and include "Mind Manager PHAB Template" in the subject line. For information about SRHD's use of the software or development of the template, contact Gwendolyn Dutt at gdutt@spokanecounty.org or 509-324-1455.
