Upcoming NACCHO Webinar: May 5th: The Road to Accreditation: Using QI to Achieve Standards

The Public Health Accreditation Board's (PHAB's) national accreditation program will launch this fall. Local health departments (LHDs) across the county are preparing to apply for voluntary national accreditation, in part by using quality improvement (QI) and quality planning (QP) processes within their agencies.

NACCHO's next webinar, the 17th in its Accreditation Preparation & Quality Improvement series, is entitled The Road to Accreditation: Using QI to Achieve Standards. This 90-minute program will feature the stories of two LHDs that have prepared for accreditation using QI or QP processes. Keith Reed, Administrative Director of the Comanche County Health Department in Oklahoma, and Judy Mattingly, Accreditation Coordinator of the Franklin County Health Department in Kentucky, will describe their QP/QI initiatives that resulted in improved community engagement in the community health assessment and improvement planning process and an improved internal repair request process, respectively.

As a result of the webinar, participants will be able to:
  • Describe how QI and QP can be used to meet accreditation standards;
  • Explain how to prioritize an area for improvement;
  • Describe how two QI/QP efforts resulted in improvements to LHD processes; and
  • Explain the effects these efforts have had on QI uptake in the agencies represented.

This free webinar will be held on Thursday, May 5 from 3:00PM - 4:30PM EDT. Registration can be accessed here. Please note, registration is limited and is available on a first come, first served basis.  An archive will be available after the event. Please contact Lowrie Ward at lward@naccho.org

or (202) 507-4196 with questions.

Upcoming NACCHO Webinar: May 26th: Restructuring an LHD Based on the PHAB Standards

Local health departments across the country are striving to improve their quality of service even while facing budget and staffing cuts. One of NACCHO's upcoming webinars will feature the story of one such organization.

The 18th presentation in NACCHO's accreditation preparation and quality improvement webinar series, entitled "Making the Best of a Bad Situation: One LHD's Restructuring for Sustainability and Accreditation," will describe the journey of Kane County Health Department (KCHD) in Illinois as they restructured the agency, around the PHAB standards, as a result of significant budget and staff cuts.

As a result of this webinar, participants will be able to:
  • Describe the economic crisis faced by KCHD
  • Explain how and why the agency restructured around the PHAB standards
  • Describe how the structure, function, and workforce of the agency were reorganized
  • Understand KCHD's plan for sustainability and improvement

This free webinar will be held on Thursday, May 26 from 3:00PM - 4:30PM EDT. For more information, or to register, visit: https://cc.readytalk.com/r/3m17tb3x27qu.
