Greetings!
As always, we are so grateful for your friendship and continued support of FACE Africa. At FACE Africa, we have an ambitious yet simple goal: Clean, safe drinking water for EVERY SINGLE person in Liberia and with your help, we are well on our way to making clean water a reality for thousands.
Thanks to you, we were able to lay a solid foundation for the organization and are now starting to see some meaningful results as detailed in this edition of our newsletter.

Project #4: Hope Mission School, Paynesville, Liberia
The Hope Mission School water, sanitation and hygiene project is being funded with a grant from the Voss Foundation, a non-profit organization established with a mission of raising awareness of the lack of access to clean water in Sub-Saharan Africa and facilitating improved access for communities in the region. Since their inception in 2008, the Voss Foundation has helped to build 21 water access points in 4 countries, changing the lives of over 100,000 people. Project #5: Help the Children Orphanage, Soul Clinic, Liberia
In October 2010, designer and star of the MTV reality show The City, Whitney Port visited Liberia with her family as part of a humanitarian mission with FACE Africa. The trip was sponsored by Symphony, the Dubai Mall's first and only luxury concept boutique. Symphony also held a charity auction during their official grand opening to benefit FACE Africa's projects. The auction raised a total of $10,000 and will go towards a clean water and sanitation project at the Help the Children Orphanage later this year.

Project #5: Williamtown, Careysburg, Liberia
Like JoeZohn, water is a major concern for the residents of Williamtown. While rain and streams are fairly plentiful during the rainy season (April through October), the village's reserves deplete quickly during the dry season. Residents have no latrine facilities and urinate and defecate in the forest, which exposes them to any number of pathogens and disease-carrying animals and insects. With funding from Santa Barbara based Global Neighborhood Fund, FACE Africa will implement a full-scale water and sanitation project in Williamtown. Project activities will include: construction of a well and handpump, construction of institutional latrines, pump mechanic training for a designated WASH committee in the village and a comprehensive health and hygiene promotion training among residents.
