Streeterville Development Updates
70-104 E Oak70-104 E. Oak Street

A Lakefront Protection Application has been filed for these parcels by 58 E Oak LLC.

The developer plans to demolish the existing structure and create a two-story retail/commercial space.  The intent is to continue large retail display windows and high ceiling heights consistent with other properties along the street.

Alderman Reilly has requested streetscape improvements including trees in parkway planter and sidewalk paving in black concrete for the entire frontage of the proposed development.

Construction of the 70-104 East Oak Street building is scheduled to start late summer with completion targeted for June of 2013.

Review the developer's plans and Lakefront Protection Application.

In 2002, SOAR was the catalyst for the Centennial celebration of Engine Company 98, which was a seminal community event.  SOAR also campaigned to keep the Engine Company 98 Fire Station on Chicago Avenue and the services of paramedics and firemen for faster response to buildings in Central and North Streeterville.

South Streeterville

In the mid 1990's, SOAR vigorously opposed the Central Circulator project that would have put trolley tracks and overhead wires down Illinois Street and back out Grand Avenue.
