SOAR's 36th Annual Meeting, November 28

SOAR's 36th Annual Meeting will be held Monday, November 28th at the InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile at 505 N. Michigan Avenue in the Seville Ballroom (Lobby Level).
Registration will begin at 6:30 pm with a program starting at 7:00 pm. Toni Preckwinkle, Cook County Board President, will be the guest speaker followed by a presentation of the 2011 Beautification Awards and a short business meeting.

| Community Meeting on Proposal for 410 E. Grand, November 14 | | |
Golub and Company, developer of the 410 E. Grand parcel is reworking the proposal to include a residential building along with a lower rise structure for medical offices and ground-level retail.
Early information on the proposal shows that the new intent is to develop the following:
- 488 rental units
- 9,000 square feet of commercial space
- 69,800 square feet of professional office space
- 294-car garage accessible from Ohio Street and Grand Avenue

The developer will be presenting the new proposal at a community meeting on Monday, November 14th at 6:00 pm at a location to be determined.

OCP Pavilion Plans Revised
On Tuesday, October 18th a second community meeting was co-sponsored by SOAR and Alderman Reilly regarding Northwestern Memorial Hospital's proposal for the Outpatient Care Pavilion (OCP). Several key improvements have been made to the proposal including the relocation of the loading dock system below grade/improvement of ground-level facade on Ontario Street and the elimination of a 10th floor connector bridge between the OCP and the Feinberg Pavilion. NMH is currently targeting a November Plan Commission hearing date.
VA Hospital Site to be Improved
SOAR and GNMAA (Greater North Michigan Avenue Association) have been working on an effort to improve the safety, security, and aesthetics of vacant lots in Streeterville.
Northwestern Memorial Hospital (NMH) has responded to concerns raised regarding the vacant lot which previously housed the VA Hospital, recently announcing improvements that will be made to this 2-acre city block. Learn about the improvements.

Streeterville Community Events & Programs
| | The 25th Annual Streeterville Doggie Halloween Party, sponsored by neighborhood dog owners, will be held at 9:00 am tomorrow Saturday, October 29 at the Lake Shore Park tennis courts. Every owner is asked to donate a prize because every dog walks away with a prize. Treats for everyone on four and two paws. Children most welcome.
The Building Group's free monthly seminar series continues on November 1st with Chicago Tribune Columnist, Mark D. Pearlstein, Attorney and Condo Advisor, on "Dealing with Problems in your Association." Pearlstein will cover a wide variety of topics including smoking restrictions, rentals, FHA qualifications, handicap restrictions, pets, foreclosures, and more. Register today.
NMH is hosting a Community Baby Shower event at the Prentice Women's Hospital on Saturday, November 5th. A collaborative forum for educators and organizations from the local community to come together and share their knowledge, expertise and resources with expectant mothers and new mothers from the Northwestern Memorial Hospital family. The Chicago Council on Science and Technology will present an introduction to, mock argument, lecture, panel discussion and question-and-answer session on "Gene Patenting: The Economic, Legal and Health Dilemma," on Thursday, November 10, at Northwestern University's Hughes Auditorium, 303 E.
