Greetings!
Monday July 25 the SOAR Residential Network (SRN) is presenting a program of interest to condominium leaders, entitled Greening and Sustainability Initiatives in Condo Buildings. There are many measures that condos can undertake to reduce their buildings' impact on the environment, and reduce energy costs to their associations as a benefit.
The keynote speaker for this program is Jonathon Boyer, a managing partner in Farr Associates, a firm that is leading greening and sustainability in building energy management and in the new construction industry. Mr. Boyer will be discussing not only day-to-day energy and sustainability management issues, but also achievable changes to existing buildings to gain LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification. LEED status shows a building's environmental responsibility and enhances the marketability of units in that building, especially with younger generation buyers to whom energy conservation that is important. Most of the initiatives for LEED certification also reduce energy consumption, lowering building operational costs.
The program will be in the 3rd floor arcade of Lake Point Tower, 505 N. Lake Shore Drive. As an added bonus, Lake Point Tower docents will take early arrivals on tours of Lake Point Tower's private 3.5 acre Skyline Park on its green roof. Registration will begin at 5:30, with tours as people arrive up until 5:50. The program will begin at 6:00, with Mr. Boyer's presentation followed by Q&A, and then networking and opportunity to stroll around Skyline Park further until 7:30.
Don't miss this opportunity to learn about new environmental initiatives your building will find worthwhile to consider. RSVP at srn@soarchicago.org or 312-280-2596 to be put on the entry list for this event.
Thanks to Harris Bank for sponsoring this and future SRN meetings.
Hope to see you on July 25th!
