SOAR Artisan Market, November, 19  - 21
Damore Shoe ImageStreeterville resident Georgan Damore will be one of the many new faces at SOAR's third annual Streeterville Artisan Fair, a Chicago collection of applied arts and fine crafts.  She was accepted by a panel of judges that included another neighbor, Judy Saslow, director of Judy Saslow Gallery, Mark Millmore, director of operations at the Museum of Contemporary Art Shop, and his colleague, Maxine Weintraub, buyer and senior sales associate, as well as co-chairs Irene Newman and Lisa Chizever and other committee volunteers.

More than half the 50 artisans are new this year, offering paintings, photography, ceramics, jewelry, home decor and fiber/fashion for sale.  Damore, who will bring her plastic wrap decorative shoes to her display, is a veteran of the City of Chicago's "Cows on Parade" and "Cool Globes: Hot Ideas for a Cooler Planet" exhibits.

The Artisan Market runs Friday through Sunday, November 19 (4-7 p.m.), November 20 (10 a.m.-3 p.m.) and November 21 (11 a.m. to 5 p.m.) at Northwestern University's Lurie Research Center, 303 E. Superior St.  Admission is free and a portion of sales contributes to the operations and programs of SOAR.  Discount parking for only $6.50 for nine hours is available at the 680 N. Lake Shore Drive Garage with validation at the Artisan Market.  Invite your family and friends to come down for the Magnificent Mile Festival of Lights parade and related events, as well as the Artisan Market, and enjoy the weekend of holiday activity here.

For cold drinks keep a pitcher of water in the refrigerator instead of running the tap.  This way, every drop goes down you and not the drain.

Condo Coffee Volunteer

Condo Coffees take place in Streeterville condo buildings on Saturday mornings usually from 9:00-11:00 a.m.  We can always use new faces to help us reach out to residents during the Coffee or to help with set-up and tear-down.

If you would like to help us host a Coffee in your building, let us know.  All we need from you is a contact or an introduction to whomever it is that makes those decisions and we will do the rest.  If you have questions about anything Condo Coffee related, email
Sue Graff or call 312.280.2596.

Streeterville Artisan Market (SAM)
The dynamic SAM team is looking for floaters for two hour shifts to walk around, see if the vendors need anything, and monitor vendor  booths if they need to take a break.  We also need people to act as greeters, sit at the SOAR table at the entrance, hand out flyers and SOAR information.  We could use help with set up on Friday, 11/19 from 2 - 4 p.m., and with closing from 5 - 7 p.m. on Sunday, 11/21.  Finally, if you enjoy walking Streeterville, we need people to deliver posters and postcards throughout the neighborhood.  For more information on how to participate, please contact artisans@soarchicago.org or call 312.280.2596, ext. 3.
