Heads-up: new China foreign food exporter filing
If you haven't heard already, China's Inpsection and Quarantine Bureau (AQSIQ) recently issued "Decree 55". It requires all companies and agents exporting food to mainland China, and all consignees importing food to mainland China, to register online with AQSIQ by October 1, 2012. Although AQSIQ will continue to accept applications for registration after the effective date, only shipments from registered companies and agents will be allowed into the country after September, so exporters are encouraged to file as soon as possible.
Decree 55 requires the following information:
- Exporter name
- Agent name
- Addresses
- Contact names
- Phone numbers
- Food category or categories
Upon submission, the applicant will obtain a serial number generated by the filing management system, which can be used to check the filing process and modify information. AQSIQ will keep a list of registered exporters on their website of exporters. |
And now for something completely different...
We're starting something new! Every few months, the Market Leader will feature a section on trade leads that might be relevant to Minnesota ag exporters.

MISSION PREVIEW: Minnesota Animal Feed Mission to the Philippines and Indonesia
This December, MDA will lead a mission to the Philippines and Indonesia for Minnesota feed companies - so mark your calendars now!
The Philippines is an established, yet still growing, market for animal feed and related products. In 2010, the Philippines imported more animal feed from the United States than any other country, with total U.S. imports growing by 45%.
Indonesia - the 8th largest U.S. ag export market - offers exceptional opportunities as an emerging destination for a range of feed products. Dates are still being finalized, but if you're interested in staying in the loop, let Christina Connelly know!
Reserve Your Spot at Gulfood NOW!
Gulfood is the world's largest food and beverage show. The 2012 show's attendance grew by 11% with more than 3,800 exhibitors and nearly 70,000 trade visitors.
