Survey Update
trapTrappers throughout the state will be taking down traps and checking them one last time for EAB during the next couple of weeks.

A total of four traps in the known infested area were found positive with EAB over the summer. A handful of the experimental traps were found positive with EAB, although this was expected as the traps were hung near the epicenter of the South St. Anthony Park Neighborhood infestation. MDA officials do not expect to find any more this season as the EAB flight period has ended.

MDA officials will also be surveying and sampling suspected trees for EAB throughout the winter months in an attempt to better understand the population dynamics of the infestation in St. Paul and Minneapolis.
EAB Community Preparedness Presentations Now Available
com. prepare symbolIn June 2010, workshops were presented across Minnesota by the MDA, MN DNR, U of MN, and City of St. Paul Forestry. The goal was to provide communities with information about resources they will need to prepare for EAB.

The information discussed in the presentations included guidelines for managing EAB, tools to help calculate the costs of EAB in their community, guidelines and tools for tree inventories and tree replacement, quarantine information, wood utilization ideas and management, and what outreach materials are available for use. The presentations were recorded and are available for viewing on the EAB Community Preparedness Webpage.
houstonEAB Field Days
The Field Days provide an opportunity to get a first-hand look at EAB-infested trees, dissect wood from infested trees in search of EAB larvae and see what a city with an EAB infestation is doing to mitigate the impacts of EAB.

If you are interested in learning more about surveying/sampling for EAB, there are still three more opportunities to attend an EAB Field Day.

The following field days are still being held and have space for participants:
-September 16th, AM Session Only
-September 23rd, AM and PM Session
-September 30th, AM Session Only

Field days are 100% outdoors and they are held rain or shine.
