Quarantine Enforcement Action
The Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA), along with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), conducted inspections at the St. Croix Weigh Station near the Minnesota and Wisconsin border. A total of 26 vehicles were inspected for Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) and Gypsy Moth Quarantine violations.
No EAB Quarantine violations were witnessed, however there were three Gypsy Moth Quarantine violations in which the USDA issued limited permits. The drivers failed to carry their self-inspection certification which is required for all loads originating from within a Gypsy Moth Quarantine. The permits allow the drivers to continue their route but are required to be thoroughly inspected by USDA officers for egg masses once their final destination has been reached.

EAB Community Preparedness Manual now Online
The Minnesota EAB Community
Preparedness Manual has been compiled by the MDA, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and the UofM with assistance from other organizations. The purpose of the manual is to
provide information to help Minnesota communities develop their own EAB community preparedness and response plans.
The presence of EAB can negatively effect a community financially and otherwise. The EAB Community Preparedness Manual provides guidance to communities managing the losses associated with EAB. The manual also includes valuable
information from various resources that will help a community prepare for the
arrival of EAB. |
