                                  One of the Lucky Ones

Dog that fell out of pickup truck

"Lucky is one of the fortunate ones...."  A few days ago, Lucky fell out of an open pick up truck in the city of St. Landry of Evangeline Parish, and her owner never slowed down or stopped to render aid.  Lucky managed to avoid being hit by oncoming traffic and crawled to a porch, where she collapsed.  We asked the homeowner to take Lucky to a local vet, where she is recovering.

The first round of treatment and care will cost about $500.00.  She has several broken bones in one paw and a fractured hip bone.  That surgery will cost an additional $700.00, for a total anticipated bill of $1200.00.  We plan on talking about Lucky's plight and others like her at tomorrow's committee meeting.  If you can help up with these costs it would be greatly appreciated.  You can donate to help Lucky by clicking here
.
We encourage all of you to contact the legislators so that other animals don't suffer from falls like Lucky had in the future.  We've all watched with horror as people pass us on the highways with animals in danger in open vehicles.

Thank you for supporting our work as an advocate for animals in Louisiana
and our programs to provide lifesaving care to those in need.

Please forward to any of your friends who might want to help
