Rudy, Rory and Randy were "bailed out" of Louisiana to new homes in New Hampshire and Maine in our most recent puppy transport.
We hope these little ones can make the trip very soon:
Cheyenne Dakota St. John Parish Puppies
These little guys shouldn't feel the pinch during these tough economic times....
Since the nation's financial crisis began in September, contributions to the
Humane Society of Louisiana went down 25% over the same period
last year. Sadly, our recent fundraising appeals resulted in just a
handful of contributions from our donors.
Our costly emergency response to Hurricane Gustav also forced us to cancel a major fundraiser and other activities scheduled for the fall.
Now, with an uncertain Christmas giving season still weeks away,
contributions are urgently needed. Funds are needed for
veterinary bills, animal care, the next puppy transport, and repairs to our primary animal transport vehicle. We also desperately need a
replacement vehicle for cruelty investigations!
The truth is, we know that many of you simply may not be in a position
to help, and we sincerely thank you for caring and for your past
support.
For those of you who can assist, however, we would very deeply
appreciate any contribution you could make on behalf of the animals in
need--no matter how small.

Recent success stories:
This portable building, which was donated in Katrina, doubled as a storage site for
donated supplies during Gustav. This year, through our new Never
Again! Hurricane Preparedness Program, we will expand our capacity
to serve as an evacuation center and supply distribution point in
Tylertown in the event of future storms. The picture on the right is the delivery of donations to Animal Rescue New Orleans, one of many shelters and rescue groups we assisted after Gustav.
We'll miss them, but we're happy to know that the two babies in the picture below are now in loving homes up north. Our wonderful volunteer, Rex, is seen here giving them a treat before they left. We are grateful to those of you who contributed to the cost of the transport. It costs us about $5,000 for each trip but the rewards are priceless.

We hope you will vote for HSL every day to help us win some of the prize money being given to shelters all over the country. The contest continues until midnight on December 14th. This is an easy way to make a difference for our shelter animals. Thank you!
On behalf of all of us at The Humane Society of Louisiana, we wish you and yours a happy Thanksgiving. We are thankful now, and all through the year, to have such wonderful supporters, who have helped us over the last 20 years!
