Dodge Park Rest Home weekly $25 challenge

The correct answer of last week riddle is "17 aliens each with 17 fingers".

The winner of the last Dodge Park Rest Home weekly riddle is Jody Rave.

This week riddle:

A stark raving mad king tells his 100 wisest men he is about to line them up and that he will place either a red or blue hat on each of their heads. Once lined up, they must not communicate amongst themselves. Nor may they attempt to look behind them or remove their own hat.

The king tells the wise men that they will be able to see all the hats in front of them. They will not be able to see the color of their own hat or the hats behind them, although they will be able to hear the answers from all those behind them.

The king will then start with the wise man in the back and ask "what color is your hat?" The wise man will only be allowed to answer "red" or "blue," nothing more. If the answer is incorrect then the wise man will be silently killed. If the answer is correct then the wise man may live but must remain absolutely silent.

The king will then move on to the next wise man and repeat the question.

The king makes it clear that if anyone breaks the rules then all the wise men will die, then allows the wise men to consult before lining them up. The king listens in while the wise men consult each other to make sure they don't devise a plan to cheat. To communicate anything more than their guess of red or blue by coughing or shuffling would be breaking the rules.

What is the maximum number of men they can be guaranteed to save?

Please email your answer to m.shalev@dodgepark.com. We will raffle a $25 gift certificate to Starbucks between all individuals who solve this puzzle.

A little humor to help ease the pain of your next trip to the pump...

This page is NOT made to imply that gasoline is cheap; The opposite!
it just illustrates how outrageously priced, all things have become....

Compared with Gasoline......

Think a gallon of gas is expensive

This makes one think, and also puts things in perspective.

Diet Snapple 16 oz $1.29 ... $10.32 per gallon

Lipton Ice Tea 16 oz $1.19 ...........$9.52 per gallon

Gatorade 20 oz $1.59 ..... $10.17 per gallon

Ocean Spray 16 oz $1.25 .......... $10.00 per gallon

Brake Fluid 12 oz $3.15 ...... $33.60 per gallon

Vick's Nyquil 6 oz $8.35.. $178.13 per gallon

Pepto Bismol 4 oz $3.85 . $123.20 per gallon

Whiteout 7 oz $1.39 ....... . $25.42 per gallon

Scope 1.5 oz $0.99 ......$84.48 per gallon

And the REAL KICKER is ....

Evian water 9 oz $1.49..$21.19 per gallon! $21.19 for WATER and the buyers don't even know the source (Evian spelled backwards is Naive.)

Ever wonder why printers are so cheap?

So they have you hooked for the ink. Someone calculated the cost of the ink at....
(you won't believe it....but it is true.....)

$5,200 a gal. (five thousand two hundred dollars)

So, the next time you're at the pump, be glad your car doesn't run on water, Scope, or Whiteout,

Pepto Bismol, Nyquil or God forbid, Printer Ink!

NASA Chicken Gun

Scientists at NASA built a gun specifically to launch standard 4 pound dead chickens at the windshields of airliners, military jets and the space shuttle, all traveling at maximum velocity. The idea is to simulate the frequent incidents of collisions with airborne fowl to test the strength of the windshields.

British engineers heard about the gun and were eager to test it on the windshields of their new high speed trains.  Arrangements were made, and a gun was sent to the British engineers.

When the gun was fired, the engineers stood shocked as  the chicken hurled out of the barrel, crashed into the shatterproof  shield, smashed it to smithereens, blasted through the control  console, snapped the engineer's back-rest in two, and  embedded itself in the back wall of the cabin, like an arrow  shot from a bow.

The horrified Brits sent NASA the disastrous results of the experiment, along with the designs of the  windshield and begged the U.S. scientists for suggestions.

NASA responded with a one-line memo - (see below)

"Defrost the chicken."

Cleaning the attic....

While cleaning the attic, Joan and Harry found an old stub for some shoes they left at the repair shop 10 years ago. They thought it would be funny to go to the shop and see if the shoes were still there. So they did. They handed the stub to the repair man who took it and looked in the back. He came out again and said, "They'll be ready on Wednesday."

Memory lane
bernie was at his friends, Morris's place for dinner. Everytime Morris spoke to his wife he called her 'honey' 'my love', 'darling'.  'sweetheart' etc.
Bernie remarked ", it is really nice that after all these years of marriage, you still  call your wife those pet "names".
Morris whispered,"  to tell the truth I  forgot her real name three years ago.

Gifts..

A rich but spoilt boy fell in love with a girl and showered her with gifts though she didn't reciprocate his love. Once she was injured and he took her to the hospital, paid the bills and even gave some blood.
But the girl fell in love with someone else and when the boy found this out he shouted at her and asked her to give back all the gifts that he had given. The girl agreed and gave him back the gifts.
The boy by now was insanely angry and shouted: "Well, how about the other thing that I gave you. How are you going to give me back the blood?"
The girl replied nonchalantly: "In monthly installments."
