Dear family members, friends and supporters of Dodge Park Rest Home
We are very pleased to announce that Dodge Park Rest Home has earned a perfect, deficiency-free survey result from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH).
The deficiency -free rating as a result of the State's rigorous examination is one of the top indicators of excellence for rest home facilities. The state surveyed Dodge Park Rest Home in mid-August for compliance with nursing care standards. They evaluated our facility for quality, safety, administration effectiveness, cleanliness, nursing care, activity programs, protection of resident rights, and food services. With increasingly stringent regulations, achieving the deficiency-free rating is exceedingly difficult. These surveys, and the subsequent ratings, are a useful tool for prospective and current residents, their families and health care practitioners, to make informed choices about the quality of a long term care facility.
It takes an entire team effort to achieve this distinguished rating. We have our staff in direct care, nursing, activities, the offices, maintenance, housekeeping, dietary, and our professional medical staff, to thank for such outstanding results, year after year. We are very proud of our staff's accomplishment.

| Dodge Park Rest Home Alzheimer's / Dementia Caregivers Support Group | | |
 Childrens of parens with demeniaTuesday September 13, and October 11, 2011 at 6pm (2nd Tuesday of each month).
Spouses of individuals with Dementia -Tuesday September 6, and October 4, 2011 (1st Tuesday of each month).
The support group meeting is FREE and open to the public.

The support group leader at both program will be Elaine Kapperman, LICSW. Ms. Kapperman has many years of experience with grief counseling, elder and caregiver issues, coping with illness, EMDR, relaxation techniques, child treatment. She is running Dodge Park support group since 2007. |
| Cross-Examination | |
A defense attorney was cross-examining a police officer during a felony trial - it went like this:
Q. Officer, did you see my client fleeing the scene?
A. No sir, but I subsequently observed a person matching the description of the offender running several blocks away.
Q. Officer, who provided this description?
A. The officer who responded to the scene.
Q. A fellow officer provided the description of this so- called offender. Do you trust your fellow officers?
A. Yes sir, with my life.
Q. With your life? Let me ask you this then officer - do you have a locker room in the police station - a room where you change your clothes in preparation for you daily duties?
A. Yes sir, we do.
Q. And do you have a locker in that room?
A. Yes sir, I do.
Q. And do you have a lock on your locker?
A. Yes sir.
Q. Now why is it, officer, if you trust your fellow officers with your life, that you find it necessary to lock your locker in a room you share with those same officers?
A. You see sir, we share the building with a court complex, and sometimes lawyers have been known to walk through that room.
With that, the courtroom erupted in laughter, and a prompt recess was called. |

Wife: "What are you doing?"
Husband : Nothing.
Wife : "Nothing...? You've been reading our marriage
certificate for an hour."
Husband : "I was looking for the expiration date."

| Safety First | | |
"You say that you want some name engraved on this ring," said the jeweler to the bashful young man.
"Yes; I want the words, 'George, to his dearest Alice' engraved on the inside of the ring."
"Is the young lady your sister?"
"No; she is the young lady to whom I am engaged."
"Well, if I were you I would not have 'George, to his dearest Alice' engraved on the ring. If Alice changes her mind you can't use the ring again."
"What would you suggest?"
"I would suggest the words, 'George, to his first and only love,' You see, with that inscription you can use the ring half a dozen times. I have had experience in such matters myself."

| Clever use of language | | | |
1) A linguistics professor was lecturing his class one day.
'In English', he said, 'A double negative forms a positive. In some languages, though, such as Russian, a double negative is still a negative. However, there is no language wherein a double positive can form a negative.'
A loud voice from the back of the room piped up, 'Yeah, right.'
2) Robert went to his lawyer and said, 'I would like to make a will but I don't know exactly how to go about it.' The lawyer smiled at Robert and replied, 'Not a problem, leave it all to me.'
Robert looked somewhat upset and said, 'Well, I knew you were going to take a big portion, but I would like to leave a little to my family too!'
3) Two lawyers arrive at the pub and ordered a couple of drinks. They then take sandwiches from their briefcases and began to eat.
Seeing this, the angry publican approaches them and says, 'Excuse me, but you cannot eat your own sandwiches in here!'
The two look at each other, shrug and exchange sandwiches.
4) A policeman spotted a jay walker and decided to challenge him, 'Why are you trying to cross here when there's a zebra crossing only 20 metres away?'
'Well,' replied the jay walker, 'I hope it's having better luck than me.' |
