Suicide Prevention Week
September 4-10, 2011 We represent a family who recently lost a father and husband to suicide. We filed a medical malpractice wrongful death lawsuit against a local hospital for failing to diagnose and treat a suicidal patient. We dedicate this month's newsletter to his memory and ask that you take a moment to consider that there are nearly 100 suicides in the U.S. every day. That translates to a death every 15 minutes. Suicide occurs across all ages, economic, educational, social and ethnic communities including lawyers. Many, closest to the suicidal person are unaware of the warning signs and do not know how to respond. We believe that through education and awareness the number of suicides and attempted suicides can be reduced. Read here for more information.

WHAT NOT TO SAVE ON IN THIS ECONOMY "What the insurance companies don't want you to know."

This economy has hit us all hard. Unemployment continues to grow and even our law firm has felt the impact firsthand. As families and businesses look at lowering overhead and cutting expenses it is understandable that insurance might be considered a luxury.
I have been battling on behalf injury victims for twenty years and nothing is more frustrating than the inability to obtain just compensation because you cannot collect it. As more and more of Florida's drivers and doctors decide to go "bare" or "uninsured" families are often devastated by the emotional and economic damage left behind.
Tragically, Florida law permits doctors to practice medicine, including surgery, without having medical malpractice coverage. Florida law allows drivers to drive without bodily injury coverage. This leaves some families dependent on the State for support (which is being cut) and placing a greater burden on the families.
To protect yourself we recommend the following:
1. Uninsured Motorist Protection.
2. Use insured doctors.
3. Disability Insurance.
4. Life Insurance.Read more here.
