CANDY'S CORNER |
I've wanted to write about this for the past 1 1/2 years. Cell phones are in the wrong hands at the wrong time. As I drive to and from work each day I have noticed how the cell phone is truly upsetting me. Every time I see a Nanny with your baby in the stroller the Nanny is on the cell phone, DON'T LET HER!!!
Make them talk to your baby, that's how our children learn cars, the colors, trees, flowers, animals and the whole world around them. Don't let your Nanny on your dollar, shut out your child from his surroundings.
I used to walk Baby Sara around Coral Gables two or three times a week. By the time she could talk she knew every store front window, every restaurant and how to dip her French Fries in ketchup. We had so much fun together! Nothing your Nanny has to say could be more important than your child's growth.
XOXO,
Client Care Specialist and Spencer's Mom |

I turn 45 this month. I am not only older but more grateful than ever for the support of my family, friends, staff and clients. Thank you all for your love and kindness. My recent visit to Miami's Camillus House reminded me of how fortunate I am. I especially appreciate my mother who 45 years ago labored on Labor Day and continues to labor each day in my office, by my side. Thanks, Mom. And my darling wife, Dina, who continues to impress me on a daily basis with her commitment to our children, to me and now to Lawyers to the Rescue and the Attorney's Breakfast Club. |
Patients in Florida's hospitals can do a few things to prevent a medical error. As a Miami lawyer who sues hospitals for medical mistakes, I believe that there needs to be a concerted effort between both health-care providers and patients to help reduce errors.
The "Speak Up" program sponsored by The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations recommends:
1. Do not to be embarrassed when speaking to doctors or nurses if you do not understand what you are being told.
2. Do not be afraid to point out errors in your history or chart. For instance, speak up if a doctor writes an incorrect note or marks the wrong side of your body for surgery.
3. Do not hesitate to tell nurses if they are confusing you with the wrong patient.
4. Do not hesitate to insist that a health-care providers clean their hands before they touch you. Keep a bottle of hand sanitizer at your bedside to clean your hands after using the bathroom, touching doors or getting diagnostic tests.
5. Insist on reviewing your records periodically for mistakes and always obtain a copy of them at discharge for your primary care doctor to review, even when your treatment is minor.

HOW NOT TO SLIP AND FALL IN FLORIDA
As a Florida trial and fall accident lawyer, I wonder why more places do not put up signs telling customers to be careful? According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, costs for treating falls is more than $19 billion annually, with a projected cost of at least $43 billion by 2020.
We have represented folks who have fallen in restaurants, supermarkets and parking lots for reasons ranging from wet or greasy floors, clutter and debris, to uneven surfaces, improper cleaning and lack of hazard identifications across the State of Florida.
We believe that many of these falls might have been prevented with the installation of signs telling visitors just to be careful. More businesses should take the time to make sure their property is safe before someone gets hurt. If you are injured by slipping or falling contact me. |
ARONFELD TEAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS
ARONFELD team members, Attorney Bruce Shemrock and Paralegal Patricia Sequeira were able to wrap up a hotly contested automobile crash case against our client's uninsured motorist carrier for an undisclosed settlement after having received the policy limits from the other driver. The two worked extremely hard on the case for our client because her own insurance company, to whom she regularly paid premiums, refused to honor their contract and commitment to pay when she needed them the most.
