I just finished reading a book by Bob Green, "Once Upon a Town - The Miracle of the North Platte Canteen."
If you know anyone who serviced in World War 2, what a wonderful Valentine's Day gift this book would be.
As you know my beloved husband, Harold, served in WW2 and I see him in every page - as a young twenty-one year old soldier, leaving home for the first time.
Thank you Bob Green and thank you North Platte Nebraska!!

It was not that bad, but I just had my annual physical. My doctor is extraordinary in that he takes his time to hear not just how I am feeling physically, but how I am doing emotionally too. I started thinking about this month's newsletter and the importance of an annual exam. If you or your loved ones have not seen a doctor in over a year, you need to read this. Trial Lawyers to the Rescue |
 We have had the privilege of representing members of the Haitian community for many years. When the news of the devastation in Haiti reached our office we searched for a way to help. Within a few days we created Trial Lawyers to the Rescue, a non-profit fund raising organization to provide relief to those in need.
Our first event was held on January 22, 2009 at La Cofraida restaurant and a silent auction was held with the generous support of many of our friends. Nearly $6,000.00 was raised and we wish to thank all those who donated.

CHINESE DRY WALL CASES SET FOR TRIAL
|
 For the many victims of tainted Chinese drywall that we represent I can only tell you that the the speed of New Orleans's U.S. District Judge Eldon Fallon's trial schedule is a galactic rocket docket.
The first trials on the tainted wall board will begin in February and there are dozens of attorneys from both sides gathering at the Federal Court for a status hearing next week. We have asked for reams of discovery material, and defense attorneys are scrambling to keep up with the Judge's time table. Judge Fallon held Chinese company Taishan Gypsum in default for not responding to one of the class action suits.

The Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) has received more than 2,700 complaints from dozens of states regarding defective Chinese drywall. The wallboard poured into the U.S. between 1999 and 2007 because of the high demand created by the housing boom. |

Depending on a woman's age there are certain exams that simply need to be done on a yearly basis to prevent the curable from becoming incurable.
AGES 2-17
- Growth patterns should be monitored.
- Blood pressure should be measured.
- CBC (complete blood count) should be performed.
- If high cholesterol runs in the family, a lipid profile.
- If sexually active, a Pap test.
AGES 18-29
- At age eighteen, an annual physical with an internist.
- A Pap test and a complete pelvic exam.
- At age twenty, a screening test to determine total blood cholesterol.
- If taking oral contraceptives, a lipid profile done annually.
AGES 30-39
- After age thirty every woman should have a complete blood lipid profile annually.
- A Pap test and pelvic exam annually.
- A baseline mammogram annually.
AGES 40-49
- An electrocardiogram (EKG) annually.
- A mammogram annually.
- A Pap test and a pelvic examination annually.
- Blood lipid profile annually.
AGE 50 and up
- Mammogram
- Lipid profile
- EKG
- Annual Physical
