Laugh-A-Latte 4th anniversary

An always versatile gourmet blend of comedians, from first timers to veterans from LOGO and Comedy Central, perform to a robust standing room only crowd. There's never a cover charge, fans are just asked to support the venue by purchasing a cup of coffee, a pastry or a sandwich.

Tom

One of the highlights of Laugh-A-Latte is Tom "Hot Fingers" O'Malley, our resident sign language interpreter.  Our faithful Deaf fans are a welcomed addition to one of the most diverse comedy rooms in town. Rumor has it some hearing audience members come just to watch Hot Fingers in action!

Laugh-A-Latte is produced and hosted by Carlease! an actress/comic currently seen in the GEICO A Bird In The Hand commercial as well as TV shows and films such as Shameless, In Her Shoes and The Back Up Plan.  She travels and hosts on cruise ships and Pride Festivals all over the country.

Ask

Stage Mom

Dear Stage Mom,

I'm looking to get back into the game after a long hiatus from the biz.  The first thing I know I need to do is get some recent headshots but it looks like things have changed since the days of Ray The Retoucher.  Can you recommend a photographer for me?

~ Not just another pretty facebook

Dear Pretty,

Ray the Retoucher! Now that's a blast from the past. It reminds me of those days of boxes black and white photos, proof sheets and that little magnifying thingee that looks like an upside down shot glass.  Yes, things have changed.  Back in the day we never thought we would even have color photos. Now, not only do we have color but high def which cannot be retouched.  The whole screen is a magnifying glass!!

Today photos are in color and not as many duplicates are needed especially if you have a website, a facebook page or an EPK (electronic press kit).  Commercial casting directors don't even ask for hard copies anymore. You can direct anyone to your site where they can download the photo of choice.

Choosing a photographer is still important.  Look at photos of friends and performers and if you like them, ask them who did the shoot. Pick about three, and then make appointments to go meet with the photographers yourself.  The rapport you have with them is very important.  You want someone with whom you feel comfortable and who gets you. Also have in mind the look or looks you are going for and make sure that the photographer understands what you want. The most important thing is to keep it real.  You want and need photos that look exactly like the you that walks through the door of the agent, manager or casting director you're going to meet.

For personal recommendations and more tips on choosing a good photographer, just Ask Stage Mom for a one to one consultation.
