 Greetings!
HOT JAVA COFFEEHOUSE CELEBRATES 4 YEARS OF
LAUGH-A-LATTE!!

It's been four years since the brewing of the first cup of Laugh-A-Latte. Every third Saturday of the month (except May), comics and audience members have gathered at Hot Java Coffeehouse to share the gift of laughter.
An always versatile gourmet blend of comedians, from first timers to veterans from LOGO and Comedy Central, perform to a robust standing room only crowd. There's never a cover charge, fans are just asked to support the venue by purchasing a cup of coffee, a pastry or a sandwich.
One of the highlights of Laugh-A-Latte is Tom "Hot Fingers" O'Malley, our resident sign language interpreter. Our faithful Deaf fans are a welcomed addition to one of the most diverse comedy rooms in town. Rumor has it some hearing audience members come just to watch Hot Fingers in action! Laugh-A-Latte is produced and hosted by Carlease! an actress/comic currently seen in the GEICO A Bird In The Hand commercial as well as TV shows and films such as Shameless, In Her Shoes and The Back Up Plan. She travels and hosts on cruise ships and Pride Festivals all over the country.
ADORABLE ADORING FANS Laugh-A-Latte regulars look forward to the monthly comedy show and have started arriving an hour early to get a seat. Come see for yourself! HOT JAVA COFFEEHOUSE 2101 E. Broadway Long Beach, CA 90803 562-433-0688 Showtime 8PM

Stage Mom

Dear Stage Mom, I'm an actress who's at the point in my career where I have to have a survival job in order to pay my bills. I have an interview tomorrow for a waitress job in a restaurant where producers and directors frequent. People keep telling me that if I have to be a waitress, that's the environment I should be in so that I can be seen by these Hollywood A-listers. What are your thoughts on this?
~I'm waiting....
Dear waiting,
I'm thinking you will be seen.Waiting on tables. Just imagine for a moment, Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks are seated in your section. They're hungry, have business to discuss and not a lot of time because they are after all, A-listers. You will probably be a blurr. I wouldn't use this time to audition or ask for acting jobs if I were you. I would however try to gather as much information about them as I could. They could become regular customers and then you'll get to notice what they like to eat, easedrop for Hollywood tidbits, get comfortable in their presence. And they will get to know you. As a waitress.
The day will come when you will meet them on a more level playing field and you won't be intimidated. At a party, where you'll be able to hold your own in a conversation or at an audition where you will shine. That's how you want to be remembered and Stage Mom can help you with that.
BE A STAR WHERE YOU ARE! Email your questions about acting, comedy, solo show production or any aspect of show business to bitsnpieces@verizon.net and I'll answer them in the next month's Ask Stage Mom.
