Greetings!
LAUGH-A-LATTE CELEBRATES 3 YEARS!!

Laugh-A-Latte celebrated its 3rd anniversary at the Hot Java Coffeehouse in Long Beach, CA on January 16th, 2010. Pictured above is the cake with a photo of last year's cake on it. It's a cake within a cake on a cake. Ken and Sergio (owners of Hot Java) are even wearing the same color shirts. Let's see how long we can keep that traditional going.
Hot Java owners and baristas, Ripples owner John, and the bakery went all out for this momentous occasion. The place was packed and we had a star studded line-up of comics. You're always guaranteed a full of evening of fun at Laugh-A-Latte.
The show takes place every third Saturday of the month and includes first-time comics as well as stand-up veterans from LOGO and Comedy Central. An always versatile gourmet blend of comedians perform to standing room only audiences for the price of a cup of coffee, a pastry or a sandwich. Laugh-A-Latte is produced and hosted by Carlease! a comic and an actress seen in commercials, TV shows and films such as The Terminal, In Her Shoes and The Back Up Plan. She travels and hosts on Olivia Cruises as well as Pride Festivals all over the country.
Ken and Sergio say the locals look forward to the monthly comedy show and have started arriving an hour early to get a seat.
Come on down and LAUGH-A-LATTE on December 18, 2010.

Ask Stage Mom

Dear Stage Mom, I can't seem to get an agent to save my life! Oh sure I get meetings but one tells me to cut my hair, one tells me to grow my hair, one tells me to dye my hair, one tells me I'm too "out there." I came to Los Angeles to be writer. Now I'm working at L.A. Eyeworks. I know I'm talented and funny but what do I have to do to get someone to represent me? ~ Not 20/20 vision
Dear 20/20,
You shouldn't have to do anything. I suggest you continue to be the best YOU. Short hair, long hair, no hair...it doesn't matter. You can't change who you are. The agents you've met so far are not the right fit for you but there is an agent out there who is looking for exactly what you have to offer. The one thing you don't want to do is try to be something or someone you're not. It comes off as disingenuous. Also just the fact that the agent met with you is a good thing. It's a place to start building a relationship. Ask them if they can recommend someone else. If not, you never know, timing could be a factor. They may not need your type at this time, but when they do you want them to call you. They won't remember you if you don't keep in touch. You know the saying, "out of sight, out of mind." Take that to L.A. Eyeworks and work on some new material. You said you were a writer. Maybe it's time you write yourself into your next project. BE A STAR WHERE YOU ARE! Email your questions about acting, comedy, solo show production or any aspect of show business to bitsnpieces@verizon.net and I'll answer them in the next month's Ask Stage Mom.
