November 2009

Greetings!

LAUGH-A-LATTE
at Hot Java Coffeehouse

Anniversary cake

Laugh-A-Latte celebrated its 2nd anniversary in January 2009. The show takes place every third Saturday of the month and includes a line-up of comics from first-timers to stand-up veterans from LOGO and Comedy Central. An always versatile gourmet blend of comedians perform to standing room only audiences for the price of a cup of coffee, a pastry or a sandwich. Laugh-A-Latte is produced and hosted by Carlease! a comic and an actress seen in commercials, TV shows and films such as The Terminal and In Her Shoes.  She travels and hosts on Olivia Cruises as well as Pride Festivals all over the country.

The owners of the Hot Java Coffeehouse, Ken Davis and Sergio Macias, say the locals look forward to the monthly comedy show and have started arriving an hour early to get a seat.

Come on down and LAUGH-A-LATTE on November 21, 2009.

I had a great time in your comedy workshop and the showcase was awesome.  I'm hooked!! I can't wait to see what's next on my stand-up comedy journey. Do you have any suggestions on where to go from here?
~ Bitten By The Comedy Bug

Dear Bitten,

Welcome to the to club!

Congratulations, you are no longer a stand-up comedy virgin.

I suggest you hone your first five minutes of material by doing as many open mikes as your schedule permits.  Get together with your fellow classmates, get out there make new comic friends and let the world see what you're made of.  Now that you've started to work out that comedy muscle, you'll begin to see humor everywhere you look.  Add that to your act.  You have some tools now.  Don't let them get rusty, use them! Before you know it, you'll be doing your first 1/2 hour set and hopefully getting paid.

Try out your act in front of all types of audiences. See how they respond and how comfortable you feel.  Eventually you will find your niche, your target market. Until then, workout whenever and wherever you get the opportunity.

Check out www.chucklemonkey.com for a listing of open mikes and remember you always have a home at Laugh-A-Latte!!

IT'S YOUR TIME TO SHINE IN '09!!

Email your questions about acting, comedy, or solo show production to bitsnpieces@verizon.net and I'll answer them in the next Show Biz Tip of the Month.

THE TRUTH IS IN THE JOKE
Looking forward to seeing you at Hot Java.
Be prepared to Laugh-A-Latte !!
