We've heard it all before, "This is a business." Most of us in the entertainment industry have talent and that's what people see when they have the pleasure of seeing us work.  But do they really know and understand how much work they don't see?  When we're on stage, on camera, on the big screen, it looks so easy, like it's so much fun. And it is.  But what does it take to get there?  A large percentage of our job is looking for work and that takes time and money.  Marketing, phone calls, resumes, ezines, photo sessions, mailings, networking, research, follow-ups, classes, rehearsals, auditions, open mics...the list goes on and on. It never stops.  We do this because we love it or because we're probably a little bit crazy. But that's what it takes to play the game. 

My success did not happen overnight.  I've been working at it in Los Angeles for 23 years as of March 13, 2008.   I've had to work at jobs I hated just to pay the bills and was unable to always give that 80%.  It all adds up.  No time is wasted. I encourage you to start where you are.  Right now, you may only be able to devote 30%. Or 50%.  Whatever that amount is, trust me, if you hang in there that will change and soon you will have a successful show business career - 100% guaranteed !!
