Greetings fellow candy lover! The Peachy Penguins are back (not the sour ones, like Jagr), and we have so many other great new goodies (good new greaties?) in store that we can't fit 'em all into this newsletter. You'll be getting this latest hot-off-the-presses edition just after the Independence Day weekend (remember? or do you just remember its date?), enabling you to face the holiday-shortened week with a big smile, a good attitude and, most important, a need to stop in to Village Candy, talk to old friends, and leave with a big fresh bag of sweets.

By-The-Pound Candy Corner Exciting New Treats - Give 'em a try
Peachy Penguins are back! We used to carry these fruity flightless fowl, but our primary supplier succumbed to the recession. So these gummi versions of a local elegantly attired mascot have been re-sourced, and are softer and more delicious than ever. Hurry while the breed is in abundance!
Gummi Bears have always been a customer favorite (including our ginormous one pound Big Bite Gummi Bear). Now we are also stocking new Gummi Bear Cubs. These cute little baby beasts come in a variety of pretty colors, each with its own distinct flavor, and the staff agrees that they're delish. Not sure exactly what specific species of Ursidae these morsels are (true fact: there are actually only 8 living species), but they're sure friendly to your taste buds.

Krabby Patty Colors
Cook the patties at 298°, then flip...
Eugene Krabs, owner of the Krusty Krab, has been serving his gourmet foodie favorite, the Krabby Patty, at his über chichi haunt in the fashionable Bikini Bottom district for years. SpongeBob Squarepants invented the original Pretty Patties multicolored version (in the episode of the same name), but avid customers returned for refunds after their body parts had turned the colors of the eaten Patties. After a little tinkering, Chef Krabs worked out the kinks and trademarked the new recipe. How else could he prevent Sheldon Plankton from stealing it for the Chum Bucket's menu? Now at Village Candy, cherry, grape, blue raspberry and green apple Krabby Patties Colors are available. Psst - don't tell Squidward! Full Warheads Lineup Returns Puckerers Rejoice! Village Candy has offered Warheads in all their glory for ye ars, in an effort to serve our loyal legion of misguided youth (and immature sour-sucking adults). However, they seem to be more and more difficult to acquire of late. Well, after much investigative sleuthing, they've returned to the "Village" shores, er, sidewalks, and are ready to do squinty duty! We have individual Warheads, Warheads in bags, Warheads Super Sour Spray, Warheads Double Drops and Warheads Mini Size Extreme Sour Hard Candy. You might say we're your Warheads Superstore! Or you might not... Giant Candy Hits Sewickley Enamel looks to recruit more fluoride We love giant candy. Whether it's the mammoth 20 pound chocolate Easter bunny we gave away several years ago, the mammoth-er 25 pound chocolate Santa that suffered a crack in transit, or the aforementioned (and currently stocked) one pound Big Bite gummi bear, the idea of outrageously-sized sweets makes us chuckle and sometimes, guffaw (but rarely chortle). Well come in and witness the gargantuan half pound Tootsie Pop (actually a hard shell encasing 10 regular Tootsies) and the humongous one pound Sugar Daddy. These are not only fun to look at in the store, but actually make wonderfully unique gifts (and can be eaten in an emergency)!

Chiller Theater A report on all things sodarific: what's new in the fridge, tastings and interesting tidbits from the world of bottled effervescence.
Help us celebrate a local treasure! Come join us on Saturday, July 30, to welcome Natrona Bottling and their new owner Vito Gerasole. He'll discuss Natrona's storied history, and his plans for this craft bottler. Natrona, the only bottler left in Allegheny County, is right here in our own back yard, and is the second oldest continuously run soda bottler in the country! Established in 1904, Natrona Bottling Company continues to produce its refreshing products in a painstaking way foreign to today's industry behemoths. Their filling machine is one of a very small handful left in the U.S. that produces sodas by infusing in-bottle, versus the large industrial vat mixing. This true small-batch process uses only cane sugar - none of that "cornbread" stuff. And maybe most important of all, Natrona Bottling is the very last soda company to use "pinpoint carbonation," from melting dry ice. This creates a more natural CO2, which then elegantly mixes with purified water, enabling it to enter the bottle already carbonated. This produces a pleasurable, champagne-like "pinpoint" mini-bubble, making each sip smooth and refreshing. AND, all of Natrona Bottling's products are caffeine-free, only in glass bottles, and contain no added sodium. | What Makes Pittsburgh Pittsburgh? Natrona Bottling Company |
Their lineup includes delicious Red Ribbon Cherry Supreme, Root Beer, Grape, Pennsylvania Punch, Mint Julep and two new flavors, Vanilla Cream and Almond Cream. And don't forget Jamaica's Finest Ginger Beer. We'll be sampling them all, and so will you if you RSVP to ensure your sip. Come taste what you've been missing. We think you'll agree that Red Ribbon deserves a Blue Ribbon - register now!
And to help celebrate...
Come in and tell us "I saw the Natrona Special in this month's Candy-gram" and you'll receive a 20% discount in July on any Natrona Bottling beverage, to coincide with the aforementioned event. |
