Candy-O, I Need You!
College Road Tripped
Greetings fellow candy lover!

This 'gram is being dictated from the road. Right now we're in bean-tahn, thumbin' our noses at the Pats and Bruins. But we've received lots of new products at Village Candy (so many pops, in fact, that you'll just have to come in and check 'em all out). So enjoy the holiday weekend, and come help us celebrate summer.
New Candy Arriving (almost) Daily!

Debut bars worthy of a Haut-Chocolat appellation

Vosges Habana BarVosges Peanut Butter BonbonJust in from Vosge Haut-Chocolat are these scrumptious organic chocolate bars with their take on exotic ingredients. First up is the new Peanut Butter Bonbon Bar - a combination that is one of the most succulent in chocolate-dom, and totally organic! Vosges has created their first organic deep milk chocolate vintage of pure Criollo and Trinitario beans harvested from a small farm in the Dominican Republic, chased with a soft, peanut butter center. Yum. Also new to the collection is the Habana Bar, the same 45% cacao organic deep milk chocolate with crunchy Ecuadorian plantain chips. Instant classics, if you ask me. And, Mo's Bacon Bar is back in stock in both the regular and mini sizes!

Return to the dark side

Chocolove Holiday BarHershey has introduced many variations of their "often immitated but never copied" peanut butter cup, and back in the rotation after being introduced in 2003 is their Dark Chocolate version. Delish.

A color explosion of popping and foaming action!

Pop Rocks Foam-BlasticWhat could be better than a mouthful of foam? Anything, if you, like me, got the proverbial bar o' soap from your mommy for swearing. But unlike that horrific memory of my youth, this large packet of strawberry-flavored pop rocks is sure to please - it not only pops, but creates a slew of salivary bubbles.

Cocoa and Coco-nut

Coconut M&MsHot on the heels of last month's
Mars tie-in with the new Transformers film (strawberried-chocolate) are these limited  edition Coconut M&Ms. Definitely tasty and worth a try!

Chocolate Stuffed Marshmallows

Chocolate Stuffed MarshmallowswI saw these at the All Candy Expo this year, thought they were tasty, and now they're in store. From a new company by the name of GüdFüd come these delicate little vanilla puffs with a chocolate center. How great is that?

Our 3rd Annual Root Beer Tasting

Olde Rhode Island Root BeerFree tastings have been a unique tradition at Village Candy, and it's something we offer to focus attention on our legendary beverage cooler and to give a little extra to our loyal fans. Village Candy has the largest bottled pop selection in all of Pennsylvania (and most likely several adjoining states), and it's just one of many things that makes us a destination.

Whenever we schedule a tasting, we try to offer new items that haven't been previously judged - not necessarily an easy task when 8-10 samples are uncapped at each event. Most of these beverages have never set foot (what, beverages with feet?) on commonwealth soil before.

A new palette of candidates has arrived (like the example pictured above left, made with molasses), and it's time someone stood up to the plate-er-cup! We're re-entering the fray by hosting our 3rd Root Beer Tasting on Saturday, July 25, between 5:30pm and 6:30pm. Remember to RSVP before it's too late. Our Root Beer Tastings have traditionally been our biggest draws, and you wouldn't want to miss out.

We may toss in a few favorites from the past that customers have sorely missed, but rest assured there will be several that you've never had before.  Come quaff a brewski on us - register now!
Candy-O, I need you...
Candy Alphabet Ok, to be absolutely honest, we don't carry, nor have we ever carried this candy product. In fact, they are not even made any more. But they did exist at one time not too long ago, and we carry a number of other sweet treats from this long lineage of delectable doodles.

We  couldn't make the latest Village Candy Candy Alphabet quiz too easy - otherwise we would have gone for the obvious O-Henry. It was a struggle to come up with this other "O" candy, let me tell you.

And remember, if you're the first to send us the correct guess of the candy that begins with this letter, you'll win a very special prize.

Last Month's ClueNik L Nip
Candy AlphabetLast month's winner was Christine Boggess for naming Nik L Nip (after a handful of quick guesses of Nerds).

Nik-L-Nip is a nostalgic brand of juice confection that comes in a variety of fruit flavors, marketed by Tootsie Roll Industries. The fruit flavored juice is found inside small, bottle-shaped wax. George Charles Beresheim is credited with the invention of this candy, and it holds a distinct memory in my childhood. It gets its name from its original price and the way you get to the liquid center, and many aging baby boomers ask for "the little wax juice bottles."
