The cooler weather brings fall colors to Gettysburg!  The leaves are changing, the apples are ripe for the picking, and all through town you can see beautiful harvest time decorations! There is always something going on in Gettysburg, and the fall is no exception!  From the 46th Annual Apple Harvest, to the many haunted tours and special events so popular in October, Gettysburg is a perfect day trip or weekend get-a-way.

Meet Author Jeff Shaara - November 18 - 21
Civil War Battlefields by ShaaraBest-selling author Jeff Shaara will make a special appearance at the Gettysburg Gift Center during Remembrance Day weekend.  Jeff will be available to autograph copies of his work and meet visitors November 18, 19, 20, & 21 from 1 pm - 5 pm daily. 

Jeff most recently completed his Second World War trilogy with the final book, No Less than Victory. He is currently working on a fourth volume that deals with the end of the Second World War in the Pacific. The expected completion date is spring, 2011.

Since 1996 when Jeff's first book was released, Gods and Generals, he has been on the New York Times Best Sellers list nine times!  Some of his work includes, The Last Full Measure, Gone for Soldiers, The Glorious Cause, To the Last Man, The Steel Wave, and many more!

Remembrance Day Weekend

ZouavesIn 1956, when the last surviving Civil War soldier passed away, Albert Woolson, a monument was dedicated at Gettysburg to the memory of the Grand Army of the Republic. The dedication included a parade and ceremony. The event has taken place every year since the original dedication, and is now known as "Remembrance Day".


Once again, Gettysburg anticipates hundreds of re-enactors coming to town for special events such as memorial services, author and artist appearances, Civil War era balls, the annual parade and ceremony and more!  There is no other event in size or nature like it. The streets of Gettysburg are full of re-enactors walking around, visiting with friends, shopping and talking with visitors.


The Gettysburg Gift Center will have numerous artist and authors in attendance during Remembrance Day weekend.  In addition, the Civil War Heritage Foundation will offer a Living History encampment on the front lawn of the museum.

15th Annual Lincoln Forum Symposium

The 15th annual Lincoln Forum Symposium will be held November 16 -  18, 2010 at the Wyndham Hotel in Gettysburg, Pa.  This annual symposium devotes all of its discussions, presentations, and book signings to Lincoln-related topics.  Membership and pre-registration is required for the event. 


The forum will focus on the Civil War Sesquicentennial (2010- 2015) over the next five years.  The theme for the 2010 symposium will be "The Coming of the Civil War: Enter Lincoln, Exit the South". In attendance at the event will be Mark E. Neely, Jr., John Marszalek, Craig Symonds, William Freehling, Gary Ecelbarger, Harold Holzer, Frank J. Williams, Edna Greene Medford, and Peter S. Carmichael.  In addition, there will be panel discussions, break-out sessions, author book signings, dinners, tours and more!

The Gettysburg Gift Center will once again be the official book vendor at the Lincoln Forum Symposium.  Make sure you visit our website for a large selection of Lincoln-related books and gifts!
